| So, So there I was looking at what leash to get my siberian husky and I remember an incident where I had a hook break when my previous husky had pulled really hard (strong husky but also old hook) I started inspecting all hooks on the leashes at the pet shop for potential flaws and found they vary in finish, sizes and design. (The point of failure was at the swivel link.) One thing really caught my attention was the numbers cast on the hooks. No one could give me a certain answer as to what these numbers represent. I'm wondering if that's a hardness rating? gauge rating? They looked the same size though. Most -err-... all of these at the local petshop are made in China. So, with that information, i tracked the manufactures and suppliers down on Alibaba and sent them a note as a potential client. Waiting on response. Meanwhile if anyone knows what those numbers represent, feel free to chime in. --Edit-- pics should be working now.

| Welcome to the forum!! Ummm, i am not going to be much help here. I just wanted you to know that some one is here and has read your post, lol. Quite oddly, I bought my girls collar and leash when she was 6 months old at Walmart, and have never had a failure, nor break, I've adjusted the collar as she grew, but is the same exact one. I could dig on their website and see if I can find it to give you an idea.
As far as links and pics, hmmmm, at the upper right hand side of page it should say "how to post pics" or something like that....stickies and announcements......also next to(on the left) youtube at the tool bar to post here you can insert a link.....I hope that helps a little???? I am not extremely tech savvy, sorry. |

I am not extremely tech savvy, sorry. Got it. Thanks! edited OP. I haven't had issues with collars... But the leash scared me when the swivel snapped. I had to chase him faaaaar, scraped knees and all back then. Eventually I caught him while he was peeing on a rock. They really don't like to come back on command. Being in metro area now, I'd be really worried of that happening with my new pup. I've seen quite a variety and im actually impressed with the K9 Tactical lead/ leash. I like it because its elastic, and 1000d nylon so it has a stretch but also a stop, and that extra handle for close holding looks convenient. Not to mention the buckle looks solid built with no weak points. |

| Numbers found on metal, any really and not just clips, are usually casting numbers. Casting numbers refer to hardness, material content, design of product, and sometimes even manufacturing location. Think of it like the VIN on your car. What you really need in order to know what you are getting with the clips is a decoder for the casting number. Some companies will release these without hassle. I personally have had more harness and collar clips fail than I have leash clips of any kind. My dogs aren't insane pullers though. With a swivel clip if you have a very strong puller that is somewhat erratic with going back and forth it will cause the joint of the swivel to waller out if the metal is of a softer casting. _________________ |
