Urine smell ? Empty
PostSubject: Urine smell ?   Urine smell ? EmptySun Jun 07, 2015 10:31 pm

So my wife and I just bought a house and are getting ready to move in this week. The sellers had two dogs and when we first viewed the house I noticed a faint "dog smell" in the living and dining room. It didn't seem too strong and there were candles burning that seemed to mask it. Well tonight after they had moved everything out I went in and it seemed much stronger. It is hardwood floor and laminate flooring in the first floor. In a couple plays the urine smell seems particularly strong. I'm certain it has sat for quite some time so it may never go away but does anyone know how to get rid of it?? I'm hoping that in time it will air out. They have already cleaned and mopped but we will probably go over it again. I'm also concerned that my two Sibes will smell it and think its ok to use the bathroom there and that will just add to the problem.

Any suggestions???

A lot of members here swear by nature's miracle products. I have not used these so cannot give you first hand advice. I do know that my son's dog had a multiple pile bout of diarrhea in my kitchen one night and they used an enzyme product that had my kitchen acceptable within the day and the odor was completely gone in a day... this was on stained pine wood floors...a very absorbent surface.

Good luck!

Well bleach could easily kill the smell, but I wouldn't recommend using that. Razz

This is what I used when my dog was being house trained and it worked really well. Although I'm not sure how well it would work on a scent that's been there for some time. I would also recommend trying Oxi Clean and Febreze, from my experience those product do a good job at killing odors.
