Every time I give Elsa a good treat she would play with it and then walks around the house crying with it in her mouth. I realized she is trying to hide it and come back for it later, but it baffles me why she cries while doing it. And by crying I mean like a whining sound.
Does any have this experience?

My girl does this with toys. Treats are usually gone too fast to cry about. I think it is a mix of emotions. Happiness to have a treat. Nervousness that it could be taken away if she doesn't eat it. Desire to hide it but unsure of a safe place. Sometimes they are just overwhelmed. It is worse in females with a hormonal imbalance.

I would seriously look into her hormones, Jenn is right. Miya and Kenzi, and perhaps yours is in a club all their own, lol. Miya was spayed too early and wasn't developed all the way, so her spay wasn't complete, since we do not want to have her have surgery again we put up with the false heat and currently the false pregnancy. I did read that a dog who has pups and then gets spayed, will have a false pregnancy, lets hope it's mild for you and after her hormones lower she won't do it again. Miya is doing this with her squeaky ball, so I think they pick whatever they enjoy the most. BTW, Miya can not get pregnant, she just has the hormonal imbalance that makes her body believe she is in heat, and this time around her body thinks she is pregnant. So if she is nesting, pacing a lot, appetite has diminished, and is sleeping more, she has signs of pregnancy. I just don't know how much of the crying and howling like a wolf we can stand, lol......

Diz does this. I honestly am not sure why, but certain treats more so than others, especially pig ears. He almost never eats them, just carries them around whining. I know he's anxious about it, and if I let him he will hide it. He will even do it with toys sometimes. Once he found a stuffed toy on a walk and carried it all the way home. He wanted to hide his 'prey' when we got home and was very anxious to find a good spot for it.

He actually has rubbed the fur off of a spot on his nose he was being so intense about trying to cover it up with the carpet. Usually if he starts that I will just take the bone away and give it to him later, or if he finds a good hiding spot, and walks away from it, then I pretend not to know where it is. Here's a video I took of him doing the behavior so I could send it to a friend and get his opinion. I was pretty baffled, but I think it's just an instinct to save it, and anxiety based on that. He would also do it if I gave him a bone or treat after dinner and he ate it, and his tummy was too full.

It will sometimes help if I hold the bone for him, or sit next to him while he chews, like he wants company, but not attention lol.
