Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Aren't forums essentially private spaces allowed to make up their own membership rules? Hasn't that been their rule all along? |

| yeah, that's too bad. It is also unfortunate that they have had that rule and not enforced it until randomly on you just now.
Just makes me wonder how competitive it is getting with the advertising on dog forums. It must be picking up if they are starting to limit the exposure to competitors all of a sudden, which is actually pretty normal in a market with legitimate competition. |

| I've had problems on that forum as well. I had a post edited/removed because I was sharing the neuro research Karen Yeargain is doing through UC Davis on the breed- I was told it was because it linked to Tumnatki Siberians page and they refuse to support breeders (had a huge issue with a dog who was named Tumnatki's For Sale By Owner *Fisbo* they were bull headed enough to think that dog was for sale so therefore she was obviously a bad breeder)....and yet they support all of their members being little BYBs and breeding their pets randomly without check. I've received numerous hateful PMs from one particular administrator. Basically, it may be their 'house' but it's run by children. |

| There is a reason I don't post much anymore in that forum- and it really is due to one immature moderator that seems to take great joy in putting me and my unloved show dogs in their place, it is really less how I'm treated publicly on the forum as much as the harassment via PM. The other members have been very nice to chat with, and I have developed 'friendships' outside of that forum with some of the members. So when I decide to post there, I stick to the one place in that forum for people like 'me' Working and Showing and they leave me alone for the most part- I cringe at the posts where puppies are produced by under educated breeders, bitches whelp and raised their litters in tray less wire crates like it's no big deal, and are shocked when the male doesn't take to his puppies or is trying to mount mom again...but God forbid we support an ethical breeder heading up major research into a budding issue within our breed. |

| I can only speak for myself... I really don't like backyard breeders either and support good ethical and responsible breeders and these people normally work and show. I have seen numerous BYB threads closed as they do get heated same as here and for good reason- if someone has made a legitimate mistake (no excuse in my mind) then some get help for the dam and pups. If they are out to make a buck then they are normally booted. I think to say they encourage BYBs is a bit of a stretch though. I am all for good, open and honest discussion on topics, but discussing another place really serves no real or positive purpose in my opinion. But I do respect any individuals right to choose where they prefer to hang out most |

| Every site has different rules about linking other "competing" forums, so it's always a good idea to check up on those rules first. Generally they wont do anything if you mention another forum in passing, but will take action if you actively promote or link to that other forum. - That other site wrote:
- 5. Advertising
5.01 - No affiliates, rewards programs, or pyramid schemes may be advertised 5.02 - Advertising of websites in direct competition with husky-owners.com is not allowed. You may refer to such site in answer to questions etc, however direct advertising of any kind is not allowed. I do agree that it's kind of ridiculous to have these rules in place for dog forums specifically; and if it was a new rule they just established/if they didn't start enforcing it until now that's pretty lame as well. Still the rules are there and need to be respected. I applaud your decision to leave the forum since you were uncomfortable with them, most other people would have acted much more immaturely. - counter wrote:
And these "houses" belong to us, the users. They are here for us. If there was no "us" there would be no forum. The same is not true the other way around. There would still be "us" with or without these forums. To try and ensure that none of their current members know that other husky forums exist is ridiculous. I'm going to respectfully disagree on this one. The head Admin is the owner of the site and can enforce any rules as they see fit. We may not like them or see any logic behind them, but they have that right all the same. Even if they are trying to capture us as an audience, the forum doesn't "belong to us" anymore than a popular Youtube channel does. Their actions may result in less traffic, but at the end of the day we the users don't own the forums. |
