| Bandit likes to chew them and when they get small enough she swallows it. They are the edible but she rather eat them than chew them. Is this normal should I be worried??? |

| Update! Take a look at this. I literally had to dig this out of her throat because while chewing she wanted to swallow it. She wasn't choking or anything but I could see that she was trying to. Anyone else have to deal with this? How bad do you think this would been if she did swallow it? |

| You need to monitor her and take it away when it becomes too small if she is swallowing it. |

| Yes that's how I caught this. Will it ever not be a problem? Will she learn not to swallow them when they get too small? She has swallowed pieces about half that size before and I have not seen any issues yet. |

| I hope this doesn't become another argument - so I'm going to phrase this as carefully s I can.
I *personally* really dislike the "processed" type of treat/chew - wait there's got to be a better way to describe that. The treats and chews that are made from tendon / skin / whatever left overs they can find - not a lot better, but that's my impression of them. I've had my dogs gag / choke of the jerky / rawhide chews so they're an absolute no-no *in my house*. I know others swear by them, I swear at them.
On the other hand, my dogs both enjoy chewing on larger sized Nylabone - er ... real Nylon nylabone. Again, I realize that some like them, I do, and others don't (someone said they gave her dogs bloody gums, which I can see) I might note that I get the size larger than the one recommended for their size and weight. It seems to last longer (like forever!) and there's less of a tendency to try to "eat" it
The nylabone that you show there is of the type that my dogs will never see, just for the problem you present - they chew it until they can (try to) swallow it and it then sometimes causes a problem. The "real" nylabone (made from nylon or the like) will shed very small splinters of nylon, in very small quantities, which pass right through.
Again, this is one of those - it works for my dog type of thing; as the internet shorthand goes YMMV. |

| Yes that's the last small one like that I gave her straight up. Usually I stuff them in kongs so she had to work to get it out then I would remove it. I turned away for just a minute throwing away the smaller piece she chewed off then BOOM she tried to swallow it. I did just get a larger style one so I will she how she does with that. |

| I have a huge one for Kesler for in my car (so I don't have to worry about smelly bones being left in the car), he loves it. It is one of the Nylon ones. But if it ever gets too small, into the garbage it goes. Same goes for antlers, marrow bones, anything that is not meant to be eaten whole.
Hope you can avoid this in the future! Always scares the crap out of me if I even think he swallowed something he shouldn't have |
