| So we picked up a Husky from the shelter yesterday. Got sent to the clinic to get neutered and picked him up earlier. First night of house breaking, so far deuced in the house. RIghtnow its 113am and I can't put him to sleep. Walked him 3x already. Always wanting to go out....my roommates are getting mad since he's being loud. HELP! |

| He's excited...it's all new. When we picked up our dog, I swear he didn't sit down for 3 days We didn't have sleeping problems though, he was crated in an outbuilding at night |

| When we got Prince at 9 months old and he was supposed to sleep in his crate. He was crate trained but OMG he would cry and bark and howl for hours and hours every night. During the day he was fine in his crate. At the time I had a 15 month old so I could NOT have him waking her up at all hours of the night and early morning. What we ended up doing was moving the crate to a closet (with the door open) in a downstairs bedroom (the bedroom door was shut though so we could sleep) since we sleep upstairs and turning the air purifier in our room up on high so that it created a lot of white noise. You could still hear him if you were awake and listening but it was good enough for us to sleep through. After about 4-5 days he was finally quiet at night and went right to sleep so we could move him back into our room at night. _________________ |

| you are also dealing with a boy that just got neutered, he should be on house rest and may still be reacting to the meds from being under. did you get pain meds for him when you picked him up? Were the room mates ok with you getting a husky, do you and they know they can be very talkative? in time he should settle down _________________ |

| Kobe finally gave up trying to get out. We're both in the laundry, which has access to the back, and he ended up sleeping. Since I didn't want wake him up, as well as the other roommates(door going in the house make loud noises and its 2am), I slept on the floor like a dog with him. 8hrs later, he's still sleeping.. Yes I have meds and pain killers for him which i add to his food every time he eats. |

| Oh your poor back! Do you have a crate for him? Will help with the pooping indoors and, maybe, if it's ok with you, you can put the crate next to your bed? Also, when we first got Ami, I got the stinkiest dirty tee-shirt of mine that I could find and put that in his crate with him. (I also went in there with him and hand fed him midnight snacks Contrary to what my husband says, I do not read him a bedtime story) |

| As has been said, it's all new to him and he's probably not comfortable (well, would you be comfortable if someone had just snipped of your gonads?) He's in a new place, with strange people and he can't move around like he'd like to because of the discomfort and the cone. I'd be a bit loud, too!
Give him a couple of days to get used to everything - and some adapt much quicker than others - and everything will probably be fine. On that note though, dogs are pack animals and they want to be where their pack (er, that's you!) is. He'd probably quiet down quicker and you'd sleep better if he were in your bedroom with you. If you haven't, think about a crate, and take the time to introduce it to him properly - that might help a lot.
If you spend another night with him in the laundry room, you might want to think about a cheap "army cot"... lots better than hard floor. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I appreciate all your responses. Today Kobe's playful, and now he wants to sleep all night and is not acting like he wants to leave the house. He's starting to adapt seems like, |
