| Koda favorite toys are rope toys. I get a little nervous cause he shreds them and swallows pieces all the times. So i dont let him have them as much as he would like probably. Should I let him go? Is there things i should worry about? Or is there a certain type of rope i should get? |

| Eric, I may be wrong, but I have the same philosophy with Miya as I did with my cats, I'm more comfy with biodegradable, natural things, just in case. Rope toys made of cotton, hemp, or sisal is what I allow to lay around, anything else is put up and only used with me or my husband. I feel if she accidentally swallows a small piece of cotton rope, the fringed end is going to be a piece at a time that is short, it should digest. Now if he's eating a good amount then don't give it to him. Cat's have a more delicate digestive tract, and my old vet mentioned under an inch or two of string(cotton, etc) as long as it was one or two pieces will come out, just don't pull it out. I use that advice with Miya. Also dogs have more stomach acid than cats and humans, if they can break down a bone, I would think they can breakdown a little natural string from time to time. |

| Renee, I'll agree, in part, with your comment. Actually, a bit more than just "in part". I have two rope toys that Avalanche likes to play with - it's the one thing he *will* retrieve! I monitor the chewing pretty closely and when he's getting carried away, the toy goes up. The problem is that rope toys that are chewed on tend to shed strings that can cause a blockage. Probably less of a problem, as you noted, with natural rope than with artificial. I *do* have a problem with unmonitored chewing, as noted above; but it's a toy we both enjoy so I watch them closely. (( Avalanche retrieves, Sasha chews - I watch them both! )) _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Funny, Miya retrieves rope toys and various sized balls. We also play a nice game of soccer from time to time. |

| Avalanche and I play around outside with his Jolly Ball. I'll kick it or toss it and he'll bring it back - 4 or 5 times and then he's the typical, You threw it, you go get it! Frisbee, nope; tennis balls, nope (where'd all the tennis balls come from anyway?); sticks, nope!
If I throw something past Sasha, she may look at it, most of the time she simply ignores it. |

| Miya wants to eat sticks, if they are floaters she'll retrieve out of the water, tennis balls are great because they bounce, to keep her retrieving I have to switch the balls and how they are thrown, frisbee no go, had one and threw it away because she'd rather chew it. |
