2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. off leash - Problem with Leash Etiquette Empty
PostSubject: Problem with Leash Etiquette   off leash - Problem with Leash Etiquette EmptySun Jun 15, 2014 10:42 pm

Whenever I take Odin for a walk and we come across a dog he has a habit of jumping towards/staring over at the dog until it is completely out of sight. Does anyone have any tips on how I can prevent him from doing this? I currently put myself between him and the dog and walk as quickly as I can away from the dog while saying "let's go", but it hasn't had much of an effect on him.

Any tips?  confused Thanks!

Here is a good video of one method to deal with a dog with distractions. The main theory is find a distance far enough away from object and work on other behaviors such as sit, down, leave it and touch.

For your situation it would be best if you could get a friend to walk a dog maybe on the other side of the park however far they need to be away for Odin to not react and work on it.

Thank you for the advice! I have another dog that I usually walk separately. I'll have to try having someone walk him while I walk Odin. It will definitely be a start!
