We had to clip the fur on my husky shepard collie mix and she tried biting our hands off for it, i ended up sitting on the floor with the scissors under my leg and let her relax falling asleep between my legs then i would snip the fur real quick. I only got one paw done at a time sometimes but i would wait a few hours and get her to lay down again and snip some more, or we had to pin her and do it once she wasnt very happy with us but she could walk without falling on the wood floor. We have to clip my sisters pups foot few son i just noticed it is like over an inch long already and shes onlu about 7-8 months and a pit retriever mix, or at least thats what we think she is!

We use a little mustache trimmer, just a quick grab and buzz it's done. WAAAY safer than scissors, no risk of a dog jerking their paw and slicing a pad.

Trimmer is a great idea. I was thinking of cutting Kye's so snow doesn't get trapped in it but i wasn't sure if it was ok. Also for slipping on tile/hardwood.

We also use a trimmer to trim the overgrown fur between pads with small trimmers. Some of our guys tolerate it better than others. The key is consistency and desensitization. Its just like with trimming nails using clippers or a dremel tool. Start off by just messing with paw pads and reinforcing no reaction with praise or treats. 1-5 seconds to start is the key, then you work your way up. After that you introduce the tool. You may only get to touch it to the paw pad or nail area the first few time, but reinforce that its safe, its a good thing. Then move up to trimming one nail or turning the clippers on...again baby steps and lots of praise are the key. It takes some time but eventually you just get this annoyed...ugh, this again look and your done.
