Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | My wife and I got our first Sibe (an owner surrender) in 1993, and been smitten with them ever since. We adopted our second rescue husky in 1999, and our third rescue in 2011, our boy Calum. He was the runt of a litter rescued at one week of age in 2009, when his mother was hit by a car. He's made up for being the runt, currently standing a good 25 inches (64cm) at the shoulder and weighing 70 lbs. (32kg). His litter mates were red and white, but he is all white with just a hint of red on his back in bright light (and an odd black spot on one side). Thanks for reading, Dan |

| Welcome! He certain did make up for being the runt, he's huge! Ha ha. Is he mixed with mal at all? I love his bi colored eyes. Huskies really are addictive. One you go husky you don't go back in my opinion. (Of course by that I mean full-on in love with a husky....no other breed of dog will ever fill that spot). |

| Thank you both! Yeah, I think he exhibited some serious compensatory growth. As for the possibility of having some malamute in him, I can't be sure. I never did hear what the mom looked like, and suspect they never knew who the father was, but the little mates sure looked like pure Siberians. Also, while our boy is very tall, he's also long in body with lanky legs; there's no sign of the heavier body I usually associate with malamutes.
Oh, and if you look at the picture closely, you can just see that his "blue" eye is actually brown on the top 1/3. |
