Well, I can't say enough good things about the 1-runner bike tow leash. It's honestly the only way I can get Ajax tired...including several mile long walks with his pack loaded with water bottles. I've been training him on this so we can move to bikejoring, but the problem is we jumped into several mile runs too quickly, and i should have taken it slow. After our morning 3.5 mile run today i checked his pads and noticed big surface tears on both front feet. No bleeding or crying, but he is limping a little. I have mushers secret, but figured since we were running on grass and asphalt we didn't need it. Stupid me.

How do I take care of his feet? Can i just clean it out a couple times a day in peroxide, and put those disposable boots over it to keep him from messing with it? He's an inside dog so i'm not too worries about dirt getting in there. Any tips for getting his pads up to speed for long runs?

Thanks all

David

Do not use peroxide, it kills the good cells trying to form. Soak then in epson salt and use the mushers secret on them. Let them heal and then try booties to run in

I've been using coconut oil on my pups paws. I like it a lot better than mushers secret. It gets absorbed faster and I find it easier to clean up oily footprints than musher's secret footprints. It seems like the musher's secret kind of just sits on the surface vs. soaking in. No matter when I put it on Diz decides it's time to walk all around the apartment.

Thanks! I'm going to try the epson salt today with mushers secret.

I'd try the coconut oil, but he loves the taste. I give it to him for health benefits so he'd just lick it off and irritate the wound.
