2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Blowing Coat & Odor! Empty
PostSubject: Blowing Coat & Odor!   Blowing Coat & Odor! EmptyFri Apr 18, 2014 12:31 pm

Luna is only 6 months old, and even though I read that huskies usually don't blow their coat until they're older, I'm positive she is. I'm thinking it might have something to do with us living in Florida. But ever since she's started she's had this funky smelling odor. It's not like a dirty dog smell (she gets a bath almost every other week because it keeps raining here and she likes to roll in the mud), it's just a little funky. She never had this problem before, so I'm not sure how to fix it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks in advance Smile

When they're young they don't do too much seasonal blowing, instead its this constant shedding of their puppy coat.
My pup just had his first winter and is not blowing coat this spring (or last fall) which makes me believe that he didn't actually get his winter coat in.

The stink could be any number of things. Dog fur is good at locking in orders from their environment and with a husky coat being good at looking clean, its hard to tell what a husky has gotten into.
If she has gotten into open water, there's a good chance the stink is from that.
You mention mud and rain and bathing every two weeks..
Try to cut it down to once a month. Focus more on keeping her coat DRY as a constantly moist coat will mean bacteria are starting to make themselves at home in that undercoat. If you do bathe, make sure she is completly dry afterwards!
