| My 12 week old husky swallowed a chicken wing. My boyfriend took him to his uncle's house and apparently there were chicken wings in the grass he got a hold of "one" (WHO THE HELL LEAVES CHICKEN WINGS IN THE EFFIN GRASS?!?!?!). Apparently Shredder "didn't really chew" the bones. What should I do? |

| Okay, well you have a couple of options. First, calm down, if it made it into his tummy, he's not in immediate danger, but you have to figure out what to do. Those make me nervous because those tips on the end of the wing can be dangerous and cause punctures. You can either wait it out, take him to the e-vet, or give him a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide every 10-15 minutes to induce vomiting. If you do the vomiting, keep a very, very close eye, because those can cause choking on the way up, or could damage the esophagus. |

| Eww, that sucks.
There is good reason to be concerned as Jen said.
If it was cooked then it is potentially more dangerous, BUT, if he didn't chew it then that is best. The danger is it splintering but it is less likely that it will if it was swallowed whole. It very well could though.
My Husky swallowed a whole cooked chicken leg once, slathered in BBQ sauce, and it just came out the other end bare and in tact. |

| Okay, thanks for all the advice. I'm freaking out in class right now because I'm not there to watch over him. |

| I'm kind of a helicopter parent and my vet is fantastic so anything happens I tend to call them to be on the safe side. I don't know what relationship you have with your vet but mine is pretty fantastic at telling me if we can do stuff at home wait and watch or if we need to bring him in. |

| My girl did the exact thing at about the same age. A gooey wing slipped out of my son's fingers and she swallowed it whole. I freaked just like you and she was fine, but you do have to keep a close eye on his stools and for any sign of a blockage. When Evie passed it, it came out in shards days later. Can be very dangerous, but I'd just keep a cautious eye for any sign of any "off" behavior. Fingers crossed your sweet boy will be ok, hang in there! |
