| Subject: Feeding my husky!! Sun Dec 04, 2016 3:33 pm | |
| I recently got my husky he is 20 month old and approx 22.15kg (so I was told when I got him) I've had him on a mixture of dry and wet food which I don't thinks doing him much good, and he doesn't always want to eat but is hungry I have read up on the raw food diet which I was hoping someone could help me out with some more information such as what type, where from and how much to feed. Any suggestions and advice would be much appreciated even if there is any other types of food anyone could suggest! Thank you in advance |

| Hayley, I can't help since mine are on dry food - but I think it would help us if you'd tell us where you are - general locale works well. Very few of us, I think, would refer to Kg's - most of us are in the US and still use the ancient Imperial system. If you're outside the US, it helps immensely if we know that. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Welcome to the forum Haley....have you had a chance at looking at the raw feeding section of the forum? That will give you a ton of info. I feed a partial raw diet, so kibble and raw, raw is fabulous! Another option is the premixes from companies like The Honest Kitchen, Sojo's and Grandma Lucy's, not sure if any are available, but those seem to be a great way to get into raw feeding, and are balanced. So you can also do a search for those brands here at the forum to learn more about those as well. After reading up, if you can ask specific questions, that will be easier to help you. I do know that feeding all raw without the premixes, you have to make sure all is balanced. I am unsure of availability for you. For me I pick up raw when I shop for myself. Most raw feeders do start with chicken first, it is a more bland protein, bones are easier to consume. Let me know how much info you have received and then we take it from there. Oh forgot to mention most feed 3% of their current body weight, so at 50 pounds you would feed 1.5 pounds of raw a day to maintain weight, stick to that for a few weeks, if you want him to gain weight, 1.75-2 pounds a day, you have to do some visual checks and weigh them to see results, as far as maintaining or increasing, I assume you do not want him loosing weight. is he breed standard in height, his weight is pretty close to standard or is standard for a male. |
