| Lately I've seen a couple huskies with green eyes. The ones I have seen came from a less-than-ethical breeder setting were bi-eyed (one green one blue)....but I was curious. How many of you have seen green eyed huskies? Are they common? |

| I read somewhere that it isnt possible for huskies to have green eyes. If you see them green its because they are still in transition to changing to brown or yellowish but idk i could be wrong. I didnt think it was possible for them to have pure black eyes. I follow this lady on instagram and she swears they are pure black an pure breed so idk lol. |

| Here's all it says in the breed standard:
Eyes: Almond shaped, moderately spaced and set a trifle obliquely. Eyes may be brown or blue in color; one of each or parti-colored are acceptable. Faults: Eyes set too obliquely; set too close together. |

| As far as I have seen most dogs with green eyes when they are young end up turning amber with age. So it's not likely for them to stay green. _________________ |

I'm not sure what causes it, though. |

| Hmm, that's interesting. There is a site that describes the manifestation of genes in coat and eye color. It's been linked here a few times.
The pigments in either coat or eye color can change quite a bit over time. I for sure have met a red adult male in real life with green eyes, like olive green.
I feel like the only time I have seen any shade of green whatsoever is in reds. |

Eye and Mask Colors in Huskies I'm a strawberry blonde w/ green eyes, so I was not so secretly hoping Achilles' colors and eyes would parallel that. His eyes are blue, but I love him nevertheless! |

It's mostly about coat though, but I swore there was stuff on eyes. |

| Interestingly enough, the site owner actually mentions/has a picture of green eyes. S/he said s/he is in the process of getting a better photo. http://www.huskycolors.com/eye.html#green |

I think I found any/all sites that discussed husky colors and coats (including this one!) while trying to "predict" how mask patterns, coat colors, etc changed over time. Needless to say, I was a bit more confused and realized it was best to just sit back and watch what happens. |

| The picture with the green eye on the site is very much fake.
My red girl has amber eyes but around her pupil is greenish. Something that still hasn't faded. _________________ |

My bet is that Achilles will keep those white eye brows for sure but that patch below the eyes may fade. P.s. Achilles is stunning. |

P.s. Achilles is stunning. You think so? xD The eyebrows make him seem so serious in combination with those eyes! I have noticed that the secondary curve of his goggles below his eyes has diluted pretty significantly. Also, when walking him outside today, I noticed that his fur is showing a much lighter color under it on his sides/shoulder/legs when it moves, so I'm curious to see how much lighter he'll get. The stripe along his back stays dark when he moves, so I'm assuming that'll stay pretty solid. EDIT: Thanks for the compliment, I totally ignored that in my first response! |

| Facial pigments in general change and fade a lot. When Link was a puppy he had a really dark grey/black at the perimeter of his widow's peak and his...uhh.....helmet??....grey on his head. That dark grey/black is now gone, but the grey...helmet...is still there in full force. He's got that dark bar through the middle of his helmet too.
His sandy beige at the base of his ears has remained so far too, but lightened significantly.
Link's back stripe has changed shape so many times now, and lightened, but it is still very much there in full force.

| Oh yeah, I just remembered I have pics of the olive eyed red male. Nevermind the raccoon/badger hybrid he's wrestling with. |

Didn't I call you that the other day? _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. If it makes you feel any better, I suspect I'm partially Luddite. My friends like to use Google Drive for document creation/sharing, and I'd rather type it up in Microsoft Word and email it to them. Also, I still prefer paper books to ebooks. |
