I currently have a year and a half old spayed female husky. I have had her since she was three months old. I have tried socializing her when she was younger but I think I messed up her view on other dogs. I took her to a dog park around once a week and she always stayed right by me and if other dogs came up towards me she was very defensive toward them. If I petted the other dogs she went crazy. If we go walking she does fine. If a dog comes up I can tell her leave it and she will ignore them and keep going. If it was ever a small group of dogs at the dog park she would do fine. Other than she is very submissive and would lay down anytime the other dogs tried to play. Well I decided to get my Dad a puppy since he has gotten so attached to my husky. I did a lot research on how to introduce the new puppy. We met on neutral ground and walked them side by side. They did fine. Then once we got home I let Genesis back in the house while I let the puppy go out in the yard for a little. Once I brought Mya(puppy) into the house that is when the trouble began. Genesis will not calm down when Mya is in the living room. Genesis goes crazy(showing teeth, growling, hair standing up, and tail tucked). Now when I try to let them play together outside Genesis keeps going for Mya's neck. If I can keep Genesis' attention I can keep her calm. If it breaks for a second she goes crazy and runs after Mya. I have no clue what to do. I have tried to find a good trainer in my area but all we have are puppy classes and the few trainers I have talked to says that there isn't much they can do since they are both female which I find ridiculous. There are plenty of people that have more than one female and they get along. Any advice would be great.

Check out a video on youtube titled "introducing a new dog into a home with other dogs" by leerburg -great video, you have done plenty of good steps so far though. Female/female will always be much harder than another combo. To me your dog is defending her territory and the introduction may have been rushed to her. Take it really slow, crates for each dog, separate rooms to start, no toys or items of possession out is what I would do. If you end up watching the video it explains more and better ideas. Good luck, it is possible even if it takes time!

If you can get a video of the play, that would definitely help.

Huskies play extremely rough - biting for the neck and tackling to the ground is fairly common in husky world. My husky, Juneau, is extremely rough with my fosters.

I had two females that didn't get along or share toys - but by the time my foster got adopted, they were able to share bones. It is possible to have them get along, just takes time and patience.

Thanks for the info. They are currently getting along somewhat. Sometimes it gets a little heated and we split them up but so far so good.
