| Lilu is only over 9 weeks, but we want to get the correct Adult size crate for her now. I bought a 42'' crate from amazon, we just got it and it looks HUGE. What size do you guys have for your adult huskies? |

| I got a large one from farm and fleet not sure if they have those by you, but it has a divider that allows you to make it bigger as the dog grows. Not sure if large will be big enough. His daytime crate is my black labs old crate - extra extra large. He hasn't had no potty issues in it, so I figure the bigger size is fine for him.
Did yours come with a divider? I think the smaller size is important when first potty training. |

| I've done some thorough scouting on here and a 42 seems most common with a 36 being suitable for some.
Link is 7 months old in a 42 and when he sits his ears are just short of touching the top and when he stretches out fully he takes up all the room, but when he curls up in a ball it seems like overkill.
We had a 36 for him and didn't feel comfortable with him in it unless he was curled up in a ball, as he couldn't sit or stretch out without touching the top or sides.
Hope that helps for reference.
In a 42 your puppy will absolutely need a divider. |

| I have the 42" for Dizzy, but started out with the 36". I graduated him to that around 12 weeks and used the divider until he was about 16 weeks. Now he gets the whole thing because he likes to stretch out, but yeah, it definitely looks way too big when he curls up. Also, no matter how much room he has, he seems to enjoy being smashed up against the side. |

| Lol. That's a common one for Diz too. He seems to like having his face smashed on the side no matter how he is laying. Sometimes he looks so uncomfortable. |

| She's in a 26'' now, but thats slowly becoming to small. I guess I'll get a divider and graduate her into the 42'' when its time. |

| I know some members who show and/or race have a 36 for adults for shorter time periods of confinement and technically they work fine, but perhaps for overnight sleeping if your dog likes to stretch out a 42 would be a better bet. |

| It also depends how big she's going to get. If she's on the small end of the range for a female a 36" might be fine. My first girl always had a 36". She was about 37 lbs at her best weight. |

| Luci is already out of standard at 8 months old and 23.5" We have a 36" for the car. It's is small as I would want to go for her, but provides a safe way to travel. For the house we have a whopping 48". She could easily be comfortable in a 42", but I let hubby win that argument. |

| I have both Sibes and my tiny Lab girl in size 42" crates. The Lab really doesn't need it but Balon cries if she's not in her crate next to him lol |

| I had Mishka in a 36" crate in my bedroom and the 42" crate set up in the living room. He starter preferring the bigger one and the 36" started to get a little too tight for him. The 42" looks huge when he's just sitting in one corner but when he's all belly up and stretched out he takes up the whole thing. It is a HUGE crate so if you don't have a ton of room it may be too big. I never could use it before I got my own house because I had no where to put it. Now it fits perfectly in the living room and he prefers to sleep in there rather than the bedroom anyway.
For reference Mishka is 6 months, 50lbs and 22-23" tall.
I still do use the 36" for trips though as the 42" is too big to fit in my car. Lol. _________________

Yeah. He's huge. I don't know if he's getting a little overweight or not. I'm actually going to post about that later today if I don't forget. Lol. _________________ |

| I got Karli a 42" as puppy and I went with a varikennel (like what the airlines require) with no divider. She never had an accident in her kennel, but she loves to stretch out, that's how she sleeps at night. Its big but bigger is better in my opinion. Jeff, Karli is only 36lbs at almost 11 months, I don't think she's gonna get much bigger lol. |

| I've always used a 42" crate for Lycus as well and now he's over 70 lbs and he fits fine still. I'm glad I got the big crate even though I didn't know how big he'd get lol. |

| Sorry to bring up an older topic but in looking for a new crate for the new puppy I have come across these two and were wanting to get your input on them. The price difference is drastic and I am not sure exactly why. Any ideas?

Yes...I want a blue crate. Or perhaps I need a blue crate. I don't know. Everything has to be blue.... I'm like that Eiffel 65 song.... OCD....whatever... |

| Id probably go with the cheaper one. But usually the price difference can mean the quality and the strength of the bars. I have heard of older huskies chewing through some of the bars. |

| One ships from a wholesaler and the other from amazon, so that may have something to do with it, and the expensive one looks higher quality. Also the more expensive one includes the divider, whereas the other one doesn't. I'd go for it, but with shipping its the same price as the midwest, and those are really nice. |
