Bandit is just at 7 months now, but good god he is a husky boy! I bought a Large crate over an X-Large because I didn't think he would outgrow it for a while. Well now he fills the whole dang thing! I mean, he still has room to turn around and lie down on his belly and back, but I don't think this crate is going to last much longer.

What size crate should I get for an adult?

Do you know the measurements on yours? The term "large" doesn't really do much for crates, unfortunately. Some will say a large has a 36" length while others say 48".

How much does he weigh? At 7 months, he shouldn't be getting much bigger, per say. Now should just be the filling out/losing the puppy look stage.

I believe most people here have 42" crates. I have a 42" (though not a husky) and it's pretty big. Much bigger than any husky I've ever seen would need. There are a few people here with larger crates as the dogs are housebroken and there's no longer a need for a snug fit.

If you dog is potty trained, does it matter if you get a larger crate then normal?? After arguing for two months with my dad he agreed to get a crate for Thunder for when he has to leave him home alone, I will be getting him a extra large though(My father will not go for feeling he has no room). He just turned 6 months and 40 pounds.

Ashley, I think it'll depend on if you ever plan to leave him in there for a longer period of time. Callie's 5 months too and though she hasn't had an accident in months, I still restrict her space. You can get a pretty decent sized one with a divider. I have a 42"x28"x28" with a divider. With her current size, her space is cut in half, but I can move it as she grows. Mine was $55 free shipping and came in two days. I followed the recommendation of someone else on here and I've got no complaints. If you want, I can take a picture of Callie in her crate to give you an idea of the size. She's the same age and 33 lbs.

If they're potty trained and you trust them I see no reason why they can't have a bigger crate. I would just think 5 months is too young for them to have it down pat that we do not potty in the crate, even if there is extra room.

Actually he can continue to grow past the 1 year mark, some do some don't. I have a size 42" crate for both my Lab (who is small at 55 lbs) and Balon who is 8 months and probably around 45 lbs so far. The size is fine for Balon and we still use the divider for him. I would say you would do good in that size. Mine is a midwest Icrate and I got it on Amazon for about 70.00!

The longest he would be alone is about 4 hours, he sleeps with my dad at night and sleeps through the night, it really is just when my dad has errands to run, he can't be home alone so that's the thing, my dad thought "Ill just put him in the yard" and uhh well lets say he almost broke the 6ft fence door off the hinge. Can you say separation anxiety lol.
