Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | Sorry for all of the questions. I'm just new to this board and trying to figure everything out. I remember when we were on thehuskyforum, we used to enjoy the chatroom a lot. I tried the "join now" and it didn't really do anything. Do I have to have a certain number of posts before I can chat? Just curious. I don't see anyone else ever using it, so I'm trying to be a trendsetter! Haha. |

| Anyone can use the chat, they don't even need to be registered on the forum, so there is no number of posts lock out like there is for HOTM or treating. You pretty much just click the Join Now! button and it drops you right in. The chat is a Java application so you would need to be sure that you have Java installed on your PC. You may simply have to update it... Because you have a work PC and can't install stuff on it yourself, it might be tricky however... Works for me on all 3 of the web browser I use. The update or download can be found at the link below. Java Download If already installed on your PC you might be able to trigger an update by doing the following.... It may allow you even if you can't "install" on your PC as your simply updating a program that is already there..... But I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Java Update Options Change Automatic Update Settings 1.Change the Java update settings through the Java Control panel. Windows XP: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel Windows 7 and Vista: Click Start > Control Panel Type Java in the Search Control Panel located in the upper right corner. 2.Launch the Java Control Panel by double-clicking on the Java icon. The Java Control Panel appears. 3.Click the Update tab to access the settings. 4. To enable Java Update to automatically check for updates, select the Check for Updates Automatically check box. 5. Click the Update Now Button if available. That is about the best I can do to help on the matter, sorry. Hope it works. ~Chris~ _________________ Is this about the cake problem? | So, I have a new laptop and Windows 8. I did the DL/update thing for Java, and then uninstalled old versions. After doing all of that, it says my computer is blocking me from entering the chat room. How do I fix this? |

| Try holding down Ctrl + Shift when clicking to start chat. That usually overrides many things on my work computer. I'm not familiar with windows 8 more than I hear that it sucks so I can't yet do walk throughs for the settings. If it doesn't work I will continue to think. My windows 7 computer jumps right in as long as Java is activated. _________________ |

Ctrl+Shift didn't work, but thanks for trying to help! I'm sure a moderator will come on here eventually and be able to figure it out. It doesn't look like many people use the chat anyways, so maybe it's not worth their time. Ha! |

| Hmm...hopefully a moderator will have more luck. My next thought would be to make sure you have accept 3rd party cookies turned on in your privacy settings but not really sure. I honestly had never touched chat until you posted about it not working, then I just tried it to see if it would work. _________________ |

Yup, I tried that too. I changed all my settings down to the lowest levels to allow for everything, and then I tried chat again. Still didn't work. I'm sure it's something simple. Before this forum existed, a lot of us "old timers" were on thehuskyforum.com (now defunct or not highly used I think), and the chatroom was a very popular place to discuss Sibes and whatever else. I was hoping for the same thing on this site. |

| Um, i think we disabled it cause no one was using it... in fact seeing where your chat button is at the top i do not even show that on my page/screen for this site. tori is busy, kelly is on vaca, meredith comes and goes and kristina is hit and miss... _________________ |
