Hi everyone,
It's been a few months since I've last posted, mainly because the advice I had received when Royce was a puppy, really helped me in the long run.
Royce is 1 1/2 years old now and for the past 6-7 months, he's been an amazing dog! But, these past few weeks, it seems as though his potty training has reset. Whenever my wife and I will wake up, usually around 7-7:30 am, there's a puddle of pee near his food bowl or in our living room. This behavior seems to be coming out to nowhere, especially since before he did this, he hasn't had an accident in those 6-7 months.
I removed his water bowl, before we go to bed and I take him out one last time. He usually wakes up around 3-4 am and will bark, because he either a.) needs (I think it's more of wants) to go out or b.) is hungry. I almost feel obligated to wake up now and take him up at that time, because I don't want him to pee on the floor, but that never seems to make a difference.
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's a health issue, because we will not pee if me and/or my wife are around. It only seems to happen if we leave him out of his kennel for a few hours or in the middle of the night.
Is there a way I change this behavior? Should I think it's a health concern?
Any advice would be perfect, as I'm hoping to break this behavior before we head to my parents house for Thanksgiving!
