PostSubject: Amount Fed & When   Amount Fed & When EmptySun Nov 03, 2013 12:37 am

We are currently feeding Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. Bane is 7 1/2 months old, and Willow will be six months old this month. They are each getting 2 cups a day; 1 cup in the morning, 1 cup at night. They are not underweight, nor are they underweight. I think they are both at a perfect weight for their age, and their current height. My main question is when do you feed? Do you feed twice a day, once in the morning, once at night? Or do you just feed once a day, in the evening?

Thanks in advance!

Shadow is about 5 1/2 months. I feed him exactly how you feed yours, a cup in the morning and a cup at night. He usually leaves about a tablespoon (rough estimate) and will snack on it later. He has lost his baby teeth, so he will usually only chew on things he's not supposed to when he's hungry, if we get off schedule. One time, he tried to chew the drawer pulls as I was getting his food, he was getting a little impatient. I was actually feeding him 1 1/2 cups at each meal and he only ate about a cup, so I started giving him less and he seems content.

That's how our two are. Although, I think I need to up Willow on her feed here this week. She always acts likes she hungry, and eats quickly (she isn't inhaling her food, so I'm not too worried about it), and then goes to look for more in Bane's bowl. I may put her back on two and a half cups a day for a while since we are going to go back to walking a couple miles a day now that I'm home more again.

I went ahead and upped Willow's food to 3 cups per day this last week. She has definitely not been "looking" for her food when she is done eating, and she's had a bit of a growth spurt.

My pup was 6 months this week. He was getting 1 cup, twice daily. I upped the amount to 1 1/2 cups twice a day. I also started switching him over to TOTW. His stools have been very soft, without form. Now, my husband tells me, the breeder said stools would be loose if we fed him to much. So we cut back to 1 cup. Not sure how to proceed. Arrghh, shouldn't this be easier?, lol

Bane had that exact issue when we fed too much when he was younger. He's now 8 months old, and receives 3 cups a day, 1 1/2 cups per feeding. We were also feeding Blue Buffalo Wilderness at that time, and it wasn't working for either of them. We switched them about a month and a half ago, cold turkey to Taste of the Wild, and they've done REALLY well on it. Hopefully your guy gets his tummy sorted out!
