| Thanks! We love her markings, too. Made her stand out to us from the rest of her litter. |

| More sleepy Layla pics to commemorate her 23rd week of life. We're almost halfway to 52 weeks! As a side note, anybody else's husky sleep as much as Layla does? We exercise her well enough with one or two 30-to-45-minute walks a day but the rest of the time she seems content to just be in the same room with us napping. She doesn't seem bored (at least I don't think so), and we do play with her for a few minutes when she brings us a toy, but otherwise she seems content to just nap. Could it be we just got lucky we got a lazy husky?! It's become routine now that around 9 p.m. Layla and I will go into the living room to watch TV. Well, I'll watch and she'll sleep. Without fail she'll always get herself into a funny position up against the couch that I can't help but snap a photo of. I'm compiling so many of them I'm seriously considering publishing a coffee-table book of funny sleeping husky positions ... Darren took this photo of her snuggling with him this morning: |

| So cute. I wish Mishka would cuddle. He sleeps a lot too. I find though when we're home he's really annoying and even a 2 mile walk won't satisfy him so I play with him and try to play games and he just wants nothing to do with it. He needs a playmate so bad at times. Lol. Too bad I can't deal with another crazy puppy at the moment. _________________ |

| She's super cute! Anya sleeps a lot still... probably up to 12 hours a day. - simplify wrote:

I found friendly neighbors to be the most convenient for dog (and human!) socialization. I live in a very friendly apartment building with other young dogs. Anya hangs out with a neighbor dog almost everyday which seems to satisfy that urge to socialize. One of my neighbors that lives a few blocks away called me this morning so she could take Anya while I was at work--heck yeah! I love free doggy day care |

| I have a couple of neighbors that have dogs. He loved the boxer next door and the little border collie down the road but we aren't very close to have playdates. And because it's so cold here (lol) I don't see them out walking their dogs when I walk Mishka, so I haven't even seen them recently.
None of my friend's dogs want to play with Mishka because he's so rough. :/ And one has an aussie. _________________ |

| Looks like I missed a couple weeks, so here are a couple to catch up on weeks 24 and 25. Next Wednesday Layla turns six months old! Week 24I have no idea how she ended up this way but once she did I was grateful a camera was close by. Week 25She's taken to going by herself into the living room now to sunbathe. |

| Layla is six months old today! To celebrate, I took her to the dog park. We were the only ones there when we first arrived so we ran around and worked on recall. She actually did pretty well. After about 10 minutes a guy came in with three huskies, two he owned and one foster. It was serendipity. Layla had so much fun playing with them. Turns out we're both members of the same husky meetup group, so we'll probably see more of the dogs in the future. Here are some pics of Layla running around at the dog park while we were the only ones there. I've been trying to get some really nice running shots, but it's tough because she's so fast and goes far away. I just love watching her run. |

| We're now at 27 weeks, more than halfway to 52! I just took a series of photos today because I'm beginning to notice how adult-like Layla is beginning to look. She's lost that puppy face and has grown a considerable amount in the last month or so to where she now looks like a slightly miniature version of an adult husky. *sigh* My little girl's grown up! Her head does still have to grow into her ears a little more, though, haha ... Side(-ish) view Body/size Sitting In repose, looking contemplative |

| Haha, happy early half-year of life to Samoa! Can't wait to see her new pics.
I haven't measured Layla in a while, but I'm 100 percent sure she's taller than the last time I measured her about six weeks ago. I think she came in at 20 inches before? She's got to have grown another inch or two since then. She's still about three-quarters the size of the grown-up Huskies she plays with but when they play it's getting to be more of a fair match, haha. |

| We're at 28 weeks. It's Saturday, so technically these pics still count as 28-week pics. We walked almost five miles on the bike path about 10 miles from our house. It was gorgeous, warmer weather and Layla was smiling the entire time! Afterwards we visited a local dog-treat shop in town and got her some homemade treats, including a "cannoli" we gave her when we got home. We also visited Pet Supplies Plus for some more treats and I couldn't help but buy her a new toy, a squeaky penguin. Spoiled dog! Taking a break, though not for long because she started eating everything on the ground. Getting a little tired on the way back to the car ... |

| i've heard that you know when your husky is tired by the way their tail is hanging lol she looks pretty tired in the 2nd to last picture i got samoa the walkydog leash for my bike. it's starting to be really beautiful here in tallahassee this week i can't wait to receive it so i can start to get some exercise and start wearing samoa out as well:) also when do you think they grow out of that constantly eating things phase? i can't let samoa stay still for not even a second outside or she'll start eating things on the ground. she'll even stand there and go potty and try to eat stuff on the ground lol |

| Heather, be really careful about using the Walky Dog with Samoa before she's a year old. That kind of structured running, even on grass, can be really damaging to growing joints. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Agreed. I have a Springer attachment I'm going to install on my bike but I don't plan to use it until later this year. For now we do walks/jogs, mostly in the woods.
As for eating everything in sight, the snow we've had this winter has been a blessing of sorts, because it deters Layla from eating all the pine cones, acorns, sticks, leaves, moss, etc. she finds. From what I hear, it gets a little better after a year or so, though I'm not holding out for much, haha. |

| Even that is too much for a 6 month old. The problem with structured running. Even if you think you're not going very fast or very far, is that the dogs won't be able to stop if they felt the need. So instead of stopping and resting when they feel the need during unstructured play, they will keep going even to the point of hurting themselves. I'd recommend completely holding off the Walky Dog until Samoa is a year. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Here's the 29-week pic! It was actually taken the day before she turned 29 weeks, but who's checking? We'd just come back from walking almost three miles in the woods. I was carrying her over the mud to the car so she wouldn't get dirty, haha. It also gives a good sense of how big she is now. She's heavy! |
