| Subject: Layla is here! Tue Sep 24, 2013 12:48 am | |
| Hi, all. Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I'm Liz from just north of Boston, Mass., where my husband and I just moved into our first home together. And now in three weeks we will be welcoming our first Siberian as well, Kennedy's Layla, a black and white, brown-eyed beauty. She was born the day after our anniversary, Aug. 19, 2013, and is doing very well at Kennedy Sleddogs in Maine, a relatively new competitive sled team and breeder. She has begun building her sled team and had two litters this summer to increase her team and, of course, better the breed. We have been researching for many months about Siberians and know they are the breed for our very active lifestyle. We have fallen in love with the breed and are now looking into eventually building up our own little pack of three Sibes or so for recreational mushing and bikejoring; however, we'll take things slow with Layla first and see where we get! I've been volunteering with dogs in the Boston area for quite a while now and have picked up lots of positive-reinforcement training techniques from a prominent dog behaviorist, so I feel I'm more than prepared to take on training and behavior. Armed with all these things, we're super excited and counting down the days to bring our little girl home! I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming months and sharing photos and tips and tricks. To start, here's a great photo my husband took of me and baby Layla when we went for a visit to Kennedy Sleddogs to check up on the pups yesterday. (That's Layla's mom, Kryska's Ironwill Roxanne, a beautiful piebald, in the background. ) |

| Welcome! It just so happens I am getting one of her sisters!! "Polaris". It'll be exciting to watch how Layla grows in comparison. Welcome to the forum. When are you picking her up from Rachel's? We are getting Caoimhe on 10/13. There is also another member here who is getting a pup from Arrow's litter

| Oh, that's great! So glad to meet someone who will be bringing up one of Capella's/Layla's siblings. We got to play a little with Caoihme on Sunday, too. The whole litter looks great, really strong personalities. It was nice to be able to spend some time with Roxanne, too, since before when we visited the puppies were only a few days old and she was stuck in the whelping box. We will pick Layla up just after the pups turn eight weeks, on Oct. 16. On Sunday we got to sneak a peek at Arrow's litter, too. She looks so cute in the whelping box with all her pups, who look so clean and active. Will you be mushing or biking/hiking with Caoihme? Maybe sometime we can get together for a little Siberian family reunion. |

| A puppy family reunion would be great! I can send you my email info in a PM that way we can stay in touch besides the forum We live about another 40 min north of Rachel's. Takes about an hour and a half from Boston, so not far at all. We are going to visit next week, I can't wait! We were there about a week and a half ago and they were sleeping the whole time. I also am very excited to see Arrow's litter. She's a beautiful dog. Capella/Layla is adorable, she was our second favorite after Polaris/Caoihme. They are all adorable though, so I would have been excited about any of them. Vega's eyes are amazing now! Your girl was the ring leader in getting them out of the whelping box, Rachel thinks she'll be the escape artist of the bunch it seems lol. Anyway, I'm excited to be able to keep in touch with one of my pups littermates!! |

Yes, we will definitely have to keep in touch and schedule some playdates for the sisters. Feel free to PM me and we can exchange info. We live north of Boston in Billerica, so it's about an hour's drive to Rachel's, so we're not far apart at all! You'll have fun on your next visit. The pups are so active now and you really can see all their fun personalities. Guess we'll have to keep an extra close eye on Layla if she's already leading escapes! And I agree -- Vega's eyes are so beautiful, like her mom's. Gienah's eyes are super-cute, too. |

| You guys are giving me puppy fever I am getting into the sport myself and Kennedy may be on one of my breeders-to-watch for when the time is right for me to add another. First I've got to build Link into the perfect lead dog and Yuki's going to start training in January when she hits 18 months. I know you still have a while yet since you shouldn't have your sibe pull until 18 months, but there's a ton of groups you can join and get info on teaching the commands and trails in your area. |
