| So I walk outside to check on Mishka because he has free range from in the house to outside. I see him chewing on something and as I get closer notice it's a rusty nail. Well as I get closer to him he grabs it up and runs to the fence where the neighbors dog is barking. No nail in sight now. Unless he dropped it in the yard, but I couldn't find it. I can take him to my vet this morning and get him x-rayed. If he did swallow it they'll have to do surgery. Is there anything else I can do? I am freaking out right now! EDIT:I took him in for x-rays and they came back fine. No nail! Here are his x-rays. Apparently he is backed up on his poop so now I am trying to figure out how to get that out of his system. _________________

| I'd be freaking out too. Look really hard for the nail, or get the xray to be on the safe side. Inducing vomiting is obviously not a good idea. Lucian is horrible with picking up stuff out of my fire pit lately. Including a chunk of half burned wood with rusty nails in it. I've been working with him on "drop it" but it doesn't work most of the time when he finds something he really wants. I hope he didn't swallow the nail! Keep us posted. |

| Edit: Christina, I've tried working with Mishka too about drop it / leave it but if it's something he really wants he's not giving it up. I took him in and they did the x-rays and nothing showed up on it so he must have dropped it. I'm going to have to rent a magnet to go over my yard to see if there are any more hidden nasties out there.
I'll post the x-ray though when my friend emails it to me after lunch.
---- Okay. No nail! Thank God.

| If you have a strong magnet or a metal detector, I would roam through the path you saw him run from you in, just to see if he did in fact drop it. If you don't have one I would call around and ask to borrow one. I hope that there is no nail in the husky tummah |

| Yes, I am terribly relieved! I just updated my first post saying everything is fine, but it appears he is backed up. So now I am googling how to alleviate constipation. Lol. _________________ |

| Yay! Glad he didn't eat it! My girls are horrible at drop it, if it's a groundhog or something they will if i get nasty about it. But i tried to get Maya to drop a Caterpillar and she just ate it as fast as possible. |

Yes... I call it the grab and gulp. The common cat move is the snarf and barf. |
