| So today is the big day. My baby is getting snipped. I'm really a lot more nervous than I thought I would be. He's already not happy about not being able to eat this morning. I'll be dropping him off in about 45 minutes or so. He'll stay at the vet until I get off work at 4. Then I'll get to baby him all weekend and hope that his pain isn't too bad. Ahh, I'm so nervous. _________________

| Dont be nervous. It will be fine. Some dogs will come home that day and act like nothing happened. Thats what happened to my Fiances dog. He came home and he was fine. Wasnt tired, sore, anything. Acted like him normal self. Now koda was very whiney when i brought him home, vet told me wasnt cause he was in pain, probably because the anestic. Just like people dogs can act funny after them. But the next day, even later that night he was normal. The hardest part for you is to keep them calm.. Koda was jumping up and off my bed the same day. It was a pain to try to limt him! But it will be fine! Make sure u post some pix! I remember on my way home, koda would look at me, almost like he was embrassed it was funny. Lol |

| He'll be fine. Lucian was a total nut when I went to pick him up. You'd never know he was neutered by the way he was acting. Limiting their activity is the hardest part. |

| Mishka's pretty lazy to begin with so I don't think it'll be too hard, but I know he'll still drive me crazy when he gets bored.
Thanks for the moral support guys. This is his first major thing so that's why I'm extra nervous. I know he's in good hands though.
I'll post more updates as I get them and pictures whenever I pick him up. _________________ |

| Wow he looks great! Looks like nothing ever happened. Both of mine didn't do to great coming out of the anesthesia, so your lucky that it doesn't look like you have to listen to the crying that breaks your heart.
Do you get to pick him up earlier now or do they want to keep him? |

| They're going to keep him until this afternoon. I'll go pick him up at 4 when I get off work and if anything happens (he starts to act off) in the hour he's home I can bring him back knowing a vet will still be available. _________________ |

| Hopefully he doesn't have bad gas. When Loki got neuter it was like a toxic waste cloud was hanging around his butt. Made the eyes water it was so bad. |

| Erica, that sounds horrible! Lol.
He already farts something fierce and burps! I always look at him and go "did you just burp!?" and he always gives me a guilty face. So funny. _________________ |

| For 24 hours after Loki surgery he was bad. Smelled us out of the room a few times. He still farts but it is not nearly has bad as when he was neutered. Just a fair warning for you. My boy is rude and will burp in my face especially after he eats his dinner. |

| He looks like he's doing just fine. Lucian used to have horrible gas! Not so much now that he's on adult food. But he will burp in my face, lol. My old dog Samantha would do it every night after she ate. |

| He looks fine!
He will be gassy. They pumped him full of gas to do the surgery. I'm not sure of the exact reasoning for it, but they did do it. Juneau was gassy for about 24 hrs after her spay as well.
Limit his water intake to ice cubes if you can. He may throw up if he gets too much water. He won't want to eat either, and that's normal. |

| He's doing well! He peed a ton when I took him outside. He apparently didn't like the kennel runs they have at the vet. His incision looks really red only in certain places. This is a terrible picture because he obviously is sore and all that. Now he's just passed out on the floor. I have some antibiotics and some sedation meds for him but I'll only use those if I need to. _________________ |

| When I got Micole home OMG what a nightmare!!! She was still out of it when I got her. She was out of the surgery room for 30 min and then they called me to come get her. She pooped all over herself, throwing up, and so out of it.. They told me from the anesthesia she was doing this and should be fine the next day. She was, thank goodness. But what a night!!! Hope you have a speedy recovery! |

| Oh my goodness! Amy, that sounds horrible. I'm glad she was doing better the next day! Mishka stayed at the vet all day yesterday. I dropped him off before 8am and he was done before 9am. I didn't pick him up until 4pm. Jackie, the surgery and anesthesia definitely did not bother his appetite at all. The second the vet tech took him out the kennel, he went straight for their office cat's food. Lol. And he wanted to eat so bad last night. I gave him half a cup of food, but he probably would have eaten normally. Mishka is doing great. You wouldn't think he just had surgery. He's been whining a lot though. Not sure if it's from some pain or he's bored. I've been letting him go in the backyard for a few minutes at at time, but I know that's still not enough. Hopefully he gets his morning sleepys and takes a nap. The little turd woke me up at 6am this morning. I put the cone on him last night and it lasted all of 2 hours before his crying (because of the cone) drove me insane enough to just go take it off of him. He hasn't been bothering his stitches, so I'm grateful for that. This is his surgery site today. It's definitely looking much better. I do think he managed to take out an external stitch yesterday, but I've been watching him like a hawk anytime he tries to lick. Mooooom, you're embarrassing me! _________________ |

| Yay, Glad he is doing great! Okami stunk through the rear the first few days, and then because of the cone and had a hard time chewing on her toys, she had bad breath the last few days, even with dentastix. See Mishka at least looks happy when he first came home.... look at Okami and her "Woe is me" Misery. |

| Glad it went ok! He looks so pathetic with the cone. Bode was a good boy after his neuter and got to avoid the cone! |

Thank you! He's definitely going to drive me nuts the next few days. Lol. - lillith87 wrote:

I was going to just put the cone on him overnight because I couldn't keep an eye on him but after an hour in his crate he started making the most miserable and loud whine bark noises so I went take it off of him. He's doing good without it. - MGoBlue wrote:

He wouldn't even move when I first put it on him, but like I said it lasted 2 hours and I took it off him. He's not been bothering his stitches so I'll leave it off for now. Lucky Bode though! _________________ |

| Lucian had to have the cone at night, I didn't trust him to leave it alone. He had it off during the day though. Mishka's incision looks just like Lu's did, and he healed up great. Glad to hear he is doing well. |

| Blaze ended up wearing the cone of shame for about a week.. after 2 without it he got an infection in his incision at night he wore the cone and a diaper because he would use the cone to rub on the incision. He had to be on antibodies for about 10 days because he just wouldn't leave it alone.. He was also upset when he didn't get his two walks a day or at least they were as long.
good luck with mishka neuter...
Added Blaze was 9 months old when he was neuter it was two weeks after we got him this may have been part of the issues.. |

| Thank you!
Mishka is almost 8 months. He hasn't been bothering it really. He licks down there but he's not bothering his incision. He's definitely not happy about no walks or getting crazies in the yard. _________________ |

| I'm so glad that I don't have to go through this with Chess! He had been previously adopted when I got him so he was fixed already! Glad Mishka is healing nicely! |
