| Okay I know it seems most people tend to have issues with the other end of the poop spectrum, but Mishka's x-rays this morning showed he is very backed up.
I feed him BBW puppy still (will be transitioning to something else soon) with some treats and such in between. He also gets 1tsp of cocunut oil and 1tsp of ACV once a day with his meals.
Is there anything to give them to soften them up so it's easier to pass? He goes 3 times a day usually but earlier when he went he just released a few firmer pieces. And he still has enough poop in him to last for another day or so.
He's getting neutered tomorrow and I don't want him to be all full up and end up with it worse after anesthesia.
Any help is appreciated. _________________

I have read here in the past that canned pure pumpkin (NOT pie filling) can help with constipation. You might try some of that in his food. It can also be used to help firm up loose stool. It's supposed to be good for both.

Hmm. I've seen people say that for diarrhea, I didn't know it worked the same for constipation. I'll have to see if I can get that at the grocery store. Thank you! _________________

I was pretty surprised too, but it makes sense. It's added fiber. In our stores here I find it in the organic section. Hope it works and good luck with his neuter tomorrow

I second the pumpkin! It helps a lot for constipation with dogs. I know my parents dog used to have constipation as a puppy and pure pumpkin solved the problem immediately.

I gave him 2 large tablespoons of pumpkin. I guess I will see! I can't feed him anything else now so hopefully that helps move things along. _________________

Everyone here says to give pumpkin for loose stools, but that too MUCH pumpkin can cause the opposite effect. So I'd say you're on the right track! Good luck!
