Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. | So Chess won't stay out of the window. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but he's scratching up the window sill. I've never encouraged his being in the window and nothing seems to be keeping him out of it. Thoughts? |

| Is he freaking out at window or just jumping up to check things out and watch? |

| Possibly a clean spray bottle with a bit of water, squirt him in the face if he's not supposed to be up there, it may work or may not. |

| Is the window open when he does this? If it is, maybe you just need to keep it shut.
The other side of the window is where the good stuff happens! So I don't blame him for wanting to be up there! |

| Siku's favorite place in the world is his window. Our couch is pushed up against it so he sits their nicely every morning and night and just stares out there. In the beginning he use to bark at the dogs that passed on the street, obviously that was not allowed so I would close the shade and make him move and window time was over once he made a sound. That didn't make him happy, so he learned pretty quickly that he had to be quiet. Maybe, that would work for you, if he starts scratching or going crazy, just take away his window privilege so he knows it isn't okay, and granted he has permission to be near the window, you can keep giving him chances until he learns what is acceptable behavior. |

| If he was just sitting on the couch and watching, I wouldn't mind. Its just that he puts his paws on the window sill and when he gets down, it leaves more scratches. I already have to replace the sill when I leave if I want my deposit back anyway but I'd still rather it had paint left on it for a while you know?
The window is closed so he paws at it. I'll try the spray bottle and see if it works. And closing the curtains doesn't work. He just pulls them down. |
