1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Well, for the off-leash, some people successfully do it and I don't, I'm training my boy in recall for emergencies like a leash malfunction or a collar snap or such, any event where he becomes loose. I personally wouldn't trust a husky to come back, they tend to be like "I'M ON N ADVENTURE" and off they go, We chased Lucifer into a busy street for half an hour he wouldn't come back for anything. So, I don't personally recommend it.

On the issue of Talking, Lucifer's usually pretty quiet but sometimes we'll sing with him, it depends on the dog.

For housebreaking, I would go back to the basics. Let her out every around every hour. Especially right after she's eaten, drank or napped. Make sure when you're taking her out telling her "good potty" or whatever word you use to associate with going outside, and give her treats when she goes outside. Make sure you're cleaning your carpets with something that kills the enzymes, like Nature's Miracle, otherwise she's going to keep smelling it and urinating on it.

For the offleash, since you really don't know her history and tendencies I wouldn't let her offleash unless the area is completely fenced in. I would never allow a couple of my dogs offleash, ever. They only are allowed off leash in our fenced in dog park.

Thank you for rescuing! Smile

They have a way of doing that Smile

I probably would until she starts going out consistently because otherwise she might just think going outside means playing, not going potty.

Right, that's what I would do, but if it were a puppy I'd probably crate the puppy if it didn't go potty since they don't usually like to go potty where they sleep, but I don't know if you want to do this.

I personally would only let her play outside right after she went potty outside, so if she went, I'd let her off leash and let her play, if she didn't she had to go back inside.
