| I am getting my puppy in a week and was ordering all the essentials for his arrival. By accident I ordered the adult food not puppy. This is sealed and I realized as soon as I opened the box just now. I can deliver this to anyone in central or north Jersey. (I live in Jersey City, but my parents live in Edison, NJ so I'm in both areas a lot). I am asking for $45 since I paid even more then that. I have been doing my research and read this is one of the best dog foods, but you probably already know that if you're reading this.
My stupidity your gain. =(
Thanks Gabe |

| You can't return it? I have about half a bag of totw puppy that I can't use because it doesn't agree with my puppy. I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. |

| What you mean doesn't agree with your puppy? Like he doesnt want to eat it or stools are very mushy? |

| He loves all food all the time. Makes his stool runny. His nickname has been squirt for a couple weeks now. Its the pacific stream puppy. He has a very sensitive stomach, I have been trying to use even a tiny bit so it doesn't go to waste, but even that makes his stool loose. Lamb and Rice works for him, so I have him on Merrick now, but will switch to Diamond Naturals when that runs out. Its $41 for 40 lbs on amazon. |

| It's actually ALS. You will be fine feeding it. |

| Delilah I read that TOTW was ALS but that was changed a couple years ago when they released their puppy food. Something to do with the calcium? Is this true?

| I don't think the calcium difference is so much that your puppy will have a problem with the food. |

| Gabea87, while you did get the adult formula, the calcium to phosphorus ratio in the formula you bought IS appropriate for puppies so you should be fine feeding that particular formula. If you do decide to keep it then please update or change the thread title. Bear in mind that not all of the adult TOTW formulas are appropriate for puppies but the one you have is fine. Ideally when buying puppy food you'll want something with a Ca:P ratio of 1.2-1.5:1, preferably closer to 1.2:1 since the 1.5:1 ratio is better for large breed puppies and sibes are a medium breed (therefore a lower ratio is required). Your bag of TOTW has a Ca:P ratio of 1.5:1 so there's no harm in feeding it to your new pup.
For feeding amount, you can start by offering the suggested amount for his anticipated adult weight, just separate the suggested daily amount into 3 separate feedings at first. Eventually cutting back to 2 meals when he's older and so on. That's just a starting suggestion of course, every puppy has varying needs so you can increase or decrease his portions as needed. _________________ |

| I started feeding adult food to my pups at about 6 or 7 months old as I also learned the puppy food really isn't needed as the adult is an all life stages food. So I would stick with the adult flavor |

| I fed adult food to my Sheba before she was 4 months old. As long as you are checking the ratios and feeding a high quality brand; you'll be fine. |

Donate it to a local shelter. <3 Agree with everyone else - just feed the bag and you'll be fine. |

| Different shelters have different rules, some do take open bags of dog food. I've donated opened bags of kibble before. _________________ |
