My husky will not run full speed or even really run at all when I try bikejoring. But when when I run with him he will run so fast to were its hard to keep up with him. I just don't get why he will not do this when we are bikejoring. Any suggestions?

First off, how old is your husky? Sorry if I sound a little presumptuous but from the avatar pic he seems rather young and they should not be running until 12 months old or pulling until 18 months old. However, it may just be that he is wary of the bike. Do you have a bike attachment like the Walky Dog or the Springer? Those really help as they keep the dog safely at the side of the bike and enable them to pull all they want while staying in one place.

He is a year old. That picture is very old and the attachment he has a x back harness with bikejoring cable that attach to the front of your bike from alpine outfitters.

At what pace is your dog moving with the bike currently? He could be apprehensive about it still and not sure what is expected of him since he's new to it.

Have you tried biking with another person out in front of you to encourage/motivate your dog to run?

I agree with both posts. Maybe just trying walking him around with the bike - not on the bike, and other such things that get him accustomed to its presence, and eventually you riding it - it may be a really strange thing to watch in the eyes of the dog.

Also, while thor does run with only him infront, both of my dogs run way better together when they have someone leading the way.

Teach him to pull if he doesn't know how, walk him and let him drag a light load, just enough so he can feel the harness. (learned from the book "Skijor with your dog")
My own advise, find a "trail" that is narrow and defined. If your dog can only see one way to run then he should run that way. As an example both of my dogs had there first Skijor experience on a golf course. Blazing a trail would confuse them and they would wander around like they were looking for a place to potty (and they might have been) but, once they got on the trail that other skiers had already set they would take off and follow like they knew where they were going.
