PostSubject: winchester area of VA- friend lost her doggy   winchester area of VA- friend lost her doggy EmptyMon Jul 08, 2013 11:59 am

not sure where to put this post, but my best friend lost her black lab in the winchester area of VA. i dont think she was micro-chipped and her collar came off when she got out. she escaped on july 4th and they still haven't had anyone say they found her. I felt horrible when i found out because like many of us, this dog is her baby. anyhow, i'm not even sure if there's any husky owners on here from that part of VA or WV (Winchesters close to the WV Border) but i figure id just say if anyone finds a black lab or spots one that's loose in that general are she's a 3 year old black lab, female. very hyper, friendly, her name's Liberty.

At this point i'm not sure what the odds are of them finding her because its been a few days. I think they are checking craigslist and have put signs up. i told them to try and notify local vet offices. any other tips i can pass on to help them?

oh no, hope your friend finds her dog!

I found the website Fido Finder and typed in Winchester. It's pretty far away (112 miles), but a lab was found in Arnold, MD.

If there's any chance it was her I wanted to pass it along.

Along with notifying local vet offices, tell them to call around to pet stores (especially ones with groomers), and any/all rescues in the area too. Also, call the city to report a dog in case it ends up in the pound...

i haven't seen that website before (fidofinder) but ill pass that along and keep an eye on it. I'm pretty sure they have spoken with local shelters/human society's but ill ask them if they have tried pet shops and groomers.

She told me that she thinks someone's probably keeping her at this point. i would fee terrible if someone hit her in their car. I had my indoor kitty escape (he pushed the screen out of a lower window) and we could never find him back when i was in 6th grade. i think what was frustrating was not having some sort of closure on it. i really hope they are able to find her

Also, don't forget to tell them to pass on certain information like what the dog responds to (certain names/nicknames), or if they have any distinctive behaviours (turns around in a circle a lot, does special tricks)... it may help the pet stores since I'd guess so many labs come in and out every day...
