Since getting Loki I notice he drinks a lot more water then my other dogs. Usually there is reason like a walk or playing, but he just seems more thirsty. His drinking did cut back some with cooler weather. Just wondering if I should be concerned. His urine is very faint yellow almost clear. Should I take him to vet? Any other symptoms to check?

The only other thing is he seems pretty calm like my lab as a puppy, but he has zoomie moments too. My vet did note he is very calm, but nothing out of ordinary just that he will grow up to be excellent dog.

Shaqua tends to drink more water than I was used to with other dogs before her. I wouldn't be concerned unless she is acting ill, or some big changes happen. Pale yellow to clear is a good color for urine. If it is dark in color it could indicate dehydration.

I think he's fine, pretty much like Link's. This dog drinks enough water to be half-camel, but Cloud and Yuki hardly drink anything. I think it depends on the dog, not the breed.

Caper is in good health and drinks tons of water compared to most other dogs. He has a gallon bucket of water that I refill almost daily, but a lot of it ends up on the floor as well -.-

That makes me feel better. Just wanted to check. Otherwise he seems fine so he must just be thirsty boy.

If your pup is drinking excessive to the point where his urine is clear, it could be a sign that he is not able to concentrate his urine meaning and he is drinking because he's always 'thirsty'. This is a sign that his pituitary gland is not working properly. I went through this with my boy Storm and in the end, it is a condition called diabetes insipidous. It's not easy to diagnose, and it is one that the vet rules out all other possible illnesses that fit the symptoms.

Read through the above thread for symptoms and my experience. The last couple of posts will give you an update and a summary.

If your pup is just drinking more than usual, just monitor his urine. You want it to be yellow, even if it is faint, but if it is clear, and he is also urinating excessively, he may not be concentrating his urine.

I'll watch this thread in case you have any other questions.

It is a faint yellow. He can also hold his urine 6-8 hours most nights. He is still potty training but rarely has accidents and none in crate. I have communal water bowl. It is getting filled 3 times a day now instead of 2, but he will leave water in bowl. If it becomes more, his urine color changes, or he has accidents, then I will take him in for sure. Thanks gor the link!
