| Hi everyone. We just picked Legion up this morning. He's 6 weeks old and pretty awesome. I'm a first time husky owner but not a first time dog owner. We are super excited to have this little guy in our family and can't wait to see how he turns out. I think he's going to be amazing. " /> So hello to all and thanks for welcoming us on your site. We look forward to some positive interactions. |

| hi and thanks for all the nice replies! I think he's the cutest thing ever but I might be a little biased lol. Â He's a good boy. Â He likes to sleep on my head or have some part of him touching me. Â He also for some reason likes to stand on my foot...like if we're outside he will come and put both his front paws on top of my shoe..not sure what that's about. Â He discovered he can howl tonight too. Good to see he has a voice. ..he's been pretty quiet since we got him yesterday. Â Maybe he's just getting comfortable with his new surroundings. Â Also he discovered the Christmas tree. ..and that he's just the right size to try and eat the lower branches. .and he also likes deer antlers so we gave him an 8 pointer of his very own. Â Tomorrow will be his first time on his own since we have to work. Â He has his own room that's been puppy proofed just for him and I thought id maybe leave a radio on so is not so quiet...I'll let yall know how it goes. |

| Once they find their voice they rarely seem to put it away. lol. He will get comfortable with the place and then you will be in for a storm, especially since he is a little younger than recommended to have been taken from the litter. usually it's best to wait until 8 weeks, so you might have some mouthing to work with him on later. I do want to throw this out there since you said 8 point antlers. White tail deer antlers are very hard and can break dog's teeth. Elk antlers or moose are softer and more safe. I order mine online but sometimes you can pick up elk antlers either full tine or a split tine at Marshalls stores or TJ Maxx if you have one close. _________________ |

Jenn - what size to you get for your two? And where do you order them? I have an auto ship on TOTW coming from Chewy, thinking about ordering 1 to try -something for in the house that's less messy than a raw bone but lasts longer than a pig ear (like the movie, Gone in 60 Seconds ) and isn't a rawhide. |

| I'll add to this and may help Amy and OP, chewy's have antlers, for any type of treat you want it to be larger than the dogs mouth so they cant just swallow it. Chewy's is great at offering sizes that match the size of your dog. Also, chewys have cow ears, love them, get natural, so no flavors. Don't leave residue, as in color transfer, last a long time, and is high in protein low in fat. Pig ears are high in fat that's why they go so quickly they are more crunchy. Cow ears are chewy, take longer to eat. |

| Usually I get full tines that are 4-5inches long in Elk. The Moose I get paddle slices. They don't last very long. Mine can get through the paddle slices in an hour or two (They aren't crazy chewers but can put a hurting on something if they wish) I do split tines for Keno since he has a softer mouth and isn't as strong of a chewer but always do full tines for Kenzi who is strong jawed and can make a split look like it was a piece of pie crust. I order from gotantler.com. they run great deals but I will say that they are so incredibly slow about shipping. I am still waiting on an order from 3 weeks ago and that is totally normal so order far in advance if you get from them. I may put in an order for some from Chewys the next time around to compare the quality between the two places. I'm sure Chewys is way faster at getting them to you. _________________ |

I was totally amazed at Chewy's shipping time - I ordered on a Fri and it was sitting on my doorstep on a Sat. Didn't even know I could shipment on a sat. |

| Just checked out the chewy side and is amazing and the prices are great. I can't wait to do some shopping on there. Going to pet stores or here is an adventure in itself since there really isn't much in the actual city. You have to go to the county for pretty much anything. Even wal mart. But I love shopping online. Thanks for the great site. I'm thinking we are going to be frequenting it soon. Also, any opinions on the huskies for dummies book? I saw a great price on it on Amazon. Thought it might make a good book for Christmas. .. |

| It's been a couple of years since I looked at the Dummies for huskies book but I do remember it being helpful.
Glad you like the chewies site - I just initiated an early auto ship - between Archer here all the time this month and the colder weather back in November, my food stash is going quicker than usual - these dogs race around with each other morning 'til night and are burning up the calories. They are HUNGRY! |

| Amy I've been meaning to tell you I absolutely love the way ami looks. He's gorgeous! Those eyes are so pretty! I keep getting people saying how good looking my puppy is and I told my husband if we aren't careful he's going to get a complex lol. I'm beginning to think ALL huskies have a "pretty dog" complex lol
So far Legion isn't eating a whole lot. He is still little though. His appetite Is good but he eats some and then just walks away from it when he's had enough I guess. I've started training him in the last couple of days so he gets treats too but I try to do it in the morning before he's had anything else to eat so I can get his attention easier. So far he's doing great. |

| Thank you - we can't go anywhere without people fawning all over Ami. Fortunately he has a wonderfully tolerant dispostion and absolutely loves people so its no biggy...unless I'm trying to get somewhere in a hurry Quite funny - as I was typing my post about ordering from chewy - the fedex truck arrived. With the kibble. Both dogs were all over the box. Sniffing it, licking it. Unforttunately was not quick enough to get the camera, would have made a great picture. How much does guy weigh? How much is he eating, total in a day? |

| He's around 7 lbs and I'll feed him about a cup of food in the morning and again early evening but he doesn't finish it. He'll maybe eat half. |

| Pandora, not to butt into your convo with Amy, but I think you will have better success if you feed 1/2 cup 4 times a day. Their little bellies can not take that much food. My Sofie at 16 weeks went to 3 times a day from 4. |

| Yeah I could try that. Same amount of food just stretched out. What about leaving the food out all day? You think he'd be more inclined to eat if he can choose when he's wanting to eat? |

| Some huskies are good with that my Miya can just graze. My Sofie not so much, she inhales her food. Spreading out the 2 cups 4 times a day helped. Try spreading out and see if he eats all of it, I bet he will. Grazing can lead to overweight dogs. Some dogs will appear to graze and gobble up all the food. As puppies, overfeeding = pudding poop, so giving him all that food at once may end up him eating all at once and him being hungry later, and then the soft poops. Spreading out helps them to not be hungry all the time, or in your case, him eating all of his food each sitting, so he will grow a little faster. I have stuck to 2 cups a day, until Sofie turned 16 weeks, now I feed 2.5 cups, and will probably stay at that amount. A lean dog will be a healthier dog in the long run. What kibble are you feeding? |

| BTW, pups do way better on schedules. Once he is older, maybe giving all at once would be ok. But getting into a set schedule for everything, will help you more, like potty training and such. If you allow him to graze he may have more accidents in house, since they tend to potty every time they eat. By setting a schedule, you are on your way to setting him up for success. |

Maybe divide the 2 cups into 3 feedings...or that little, maybe even 4 per day. So1/2 cup 3 or 4 times per day...or maybe even a third of a cup 4 x daily. His liver is not very big to store a lot of glycogen. |
