Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and introduce everyone to my new little cottonball, Kelvi.
I just got her on Monday, March 11 and she is such a sweet girl. I'm completely smitten- even when she sounds like she's being possessed while in her kennel. Meet Kelvi! 1625187496

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi!

Enjoy the pictures Very Happy

These first 2 are from when I visited the breeder's house to meet her

What a pretty little girl! Aw!
Welcome!

So I have kind of this weird question for the Husky experts...in the German Shepherd world, I found out that white shepherds are somewhat sidelined and regarded as "less"...considered to have a softer temperament, only good for pets and not working dogs, they don't show or belong to the AKC or something (unclear about details). What is the feeling in the Husky world about white huskies? I am just curious. I get the impression that white huskies are considered quite desirable and not "less than" any other color?

What a cute baby!

Shepsky, don't think there's really any "dissing" of white any other color in huskies. But I'm not on the show circuit.

Very cute pup! Congrats and welcome to the forum!

@Shepsky ...it used to be that white Huskies were not allowed to compete in show, white was not a recognized color for Siberian’s by the AKC, until it was argued that a Huskies white color is actually not a color, it’s a marking and Huskies are allowed with any and all markings.

That is interesting! So there was kind of a similar process...
white huskies sure had a better outcome than white german shepherds!
(apparently white GSDs can not show as GSDs, they have their own separate club.)

My white husky/GSD is often called a "Samoyed" because nobody thinks that he could be a husky (no mask) or a GSD (not black & tan) Very Happy

Anyway -
congrats on your new puppy!

Tibetan mastiffs were the same way when they first entered akc from arba in china/nepal there are 2 types with 2 standard but akc only allows monastery type not the nomadic type. My dad used to breed them

Puppy is way way cute
