| We are picking up Friday or Saturday a 3 year old Alaskan Malamute. She is white and black with light brown eyes. We are super excited. Any tips on making her comfy in her new home? And making sure our other pets don't feel left out or threatened by her? |

| are you bringing Micole with you to get her? if not i would make sure the 2 of them meet in a common area not at your house to let them meet and feel each other out. do ask to much from her to start, let her settle in and feel at home. just try to spend equal time with both dogs. if feeding or giving treats to it with Micole first so she understands he is a head of her in the pack. do separate and together walks so they each get one on one time as well as time together. good luck and congrats! _________________ |

| No, the car ride is a little too much for micole. I will be in the car for 8 hours. She would go a little too crazy lol. Thanks for the advise! I will do that. |

| Is there no way you can bring MIcole with you it would be better for them to meet there first. If not I would take the new pup and Micole to a park to meet first before the are in the home. |

| No, Micole is good with short drives. I am still working with her long distance right now. She kinda freaks out. With another dog in the car I am not sure how she would react and with me driving... I see issues lol but yes I spoke with my husband and thank god he will home before I will so he is going to load up all the dogs up and take them to the dog park (a block away from me) and meet up there. Its really not busy. They have a small dog area that no one uses and I can put them in there. |

| Since she is so new to our pack , how long should I wait to take her to dog parks? I take Micole 3 times a week. Will it be ok to bring her with me. |

| I don't see why you can't take her to the dog park with a couple days.. We took Kerian when we got her the first week she knew what a dog park was.. Your new dog may have been taken to dog parks. You might take her and keep her on a leash for a while to see how she does.
When we go to the dog park Kerian always comes when it is time to go ( we have had her a year now she is 3 years old). Now Blaze who is 2 1/2 years old who we have has almost two years old still give us problems when it is time to go. |

| Awesome!! I wasn't sure what the dos and donts when you get a new dog. I have always had puppys so I was always waiting till they had there last shots... I know she is not kennel trained .... all my dogs goes in there kennels at night. Micole is the only one that is still on the I don't trust you list so she goes in when I am going to be gone for a few hours. Should I trust her (the new dog) in our house alone? Since she is used to be free roam? |

| I think you will have to feel that out with her once you have her in your home.. When we got Kerian she was 2 years we crated her at night and when we went somewhere for the first few weeks. Blaze does not and has not slept in a crate but we did not know what to expect from her. Neither of mine sleep in the crates at night they sleep on dog beds in our bedroom. That way if they need out they wake us up. We have the crates up all the time Blaze wants to eat in his because at first Kerian had some drama when she ate and he wanted nothing to do with it. |

| I would take her to the dog park after a few days at ur place, till you know how she will behave with others. As far as leaving her uncrated during the day, I think its ok but I would keep her alone, would hate for you to come home to a blood bath incase some one snaped. Its always best and saftest to keep rescues under a close watch for the first few months to make sure they are setteling in. Sorry bout the mix comment I was thinking alaskan husky (mix) not mal, whitch is a breed brain fart there! _________________ |

| If she is used to having free roam of the house, I'm sure she would be just fine! When I had my Standard Poodle "foster", he was used to free roam and I was a little worried at first because he wasn't neutered and I didn't want him marking in the house, but he did just fine. If your other dogs are in a crate, or you should at least gate them off in separate areas just to make sure they all get along. I will say I didn't do that with Prancer, because he was VERY layed back and very calm, as is Kennedy and they got along just fine. But, I would still recommend it if you don't quite know her personality yet. As for the dog park thing... I will say I personally waited until we had Prancer 2-3 months before I took him to any kind of dog park type setting. I think it is better to wait, but it's one of those things where it depends on the dog I'd say . Good luck! Hope everything goes well!! |

| O its fine. I kept going threw my messages thinking I put mix some where in there lol then I thought I had the name wrong and was going back into the paperwork lol
Ok, awesome advise. I have a baby gate so I will probaly seperate my ausi and the mal when I am not home just to make sure they don't have any issues with each other. Micole.... she plays with everyone she don't care.... I am sure the mal can keep up with her. As long as the mal is good to her.
Here is hoping everything goes well and things are perfect lol |

| I would let them work it out.. just keep a watch over them so no blood occurs.. That is what we did when we got Kerian it took a while just keep an eye on them correcting them when they get to rough.
