| Kelsey I know the struggles all too well, we have had so many meet&greets, applications, and long conversations regarding my current foster. Where do you have Ares posted? And what's his write up/pictures? A lot of time it's something as simple as that which isn't drawing enough people in. And as much as it *can* be sketchy, Craigslist is where I list all my fosters. If they do suck, the application I send over before even getting involved with them usually disinterests the majority of the crappy adopters. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | ARES HAS A HOME!!! !!! He is going home to Baltimore with a very nice lady who works at a vet clinic up there, has a husky and a JRT mix. She sounds perfect for him and is REALLY excited for him to go home! SO, here comes the transportation request. She wants him as soon as possible, even suggested he fly there (definitely said no to that lol..), so I guess the sooner the better. I'm not quiet sure how this whole thing works as this is the first time I have had a pup transported over 3 hours LOL. MEREDITH, I NEED YOU! |

| I've done a couple legs of long transports in the past, I have a pretty good handle on how they run. I know the entire trip really well, and can help you plan the legs. I talked to my parents, and they're willing to do a leg but unable to do the whole Chicago to Baltimore trip when they come out here in a couple weeks.
As a general plan, I would suggest I-80 to Chicago, and then drop down I-65 to I-70 out here to Maryland. If you stay on I-80 past Chicago and then drop down the Pennsylvania Turnpike, you'll pay a crap load in tolls and quite honestly those roads suck.
Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia people, anyone willing to help out? _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Okay, so here is a map of sorts of the transport route.
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Omaha,+NE&daddr=41.4613507,-88.2998924+to:39.8199905,-85.8374829+to:Annapolis,+MD&hl=en&sll=40.367415,-86.24918&sspn=18.68467,34.013672&geocode=FQt2dQId3C9H-int_Ay1yI2ThzEEtjeuT01CRg%3BFWameAIdjKa8-ikX5dmut48OiDEujRGtVZ32uA%3BFdaaXwIdVjni-ikz3U5OVzFriDFaZPJ5Q2aibA%3BFY3DUgIdadJw-ynVL2dwZfa3iTFLJ6jT_VT4Qw&oq=Anna&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=5&via=1,2&t=m&z=5
I *could* do from here to Chicago, but I seriously don't know if my car would make it. However, if no one can be found there, I will figure out a way to get there. From the sounds of everything, we are shooting for next weekend; I am off Thurs-Sat, and I could get my Sunday covered if need be. I think we are waiting to hear on Kevin's work schedule, and after that, we will get a schedule put up.
Thank you everyone!! I truly appreciate it! |

| Ok, so here's an update. So far I have legs covered from Chicago to Ft Wayne, Indiana, and Ft Wayne to Dayton, OH. Megan, can you put a shout out to your H2M2 group and see if anyone can do a leg east of Dayton? I need to find out how far west the adopter is willing to go and that will determine how many legs we need after Ohio.
Jennet, if you can give a shout to the Iowa group and see if anyone is willing to help?
Also, northern Illinois folks, if any of you could take a leg across I-80 to Plainfield, that would be great as well.
Thanks, everyone! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Alright, so I talked to the adopter and she's planning on going from Baltimore to Wheeling, WV to meet the transport. She could potentially go a little further if need be, but that should leave 1-2 Ohio legs to be filled depending on how far our Ohio folks are willing to drive.
Starting to form a more solid plan. Kelsey, plan on leaving early-ish on Saturday morning, and we will figure out how far East you are going. My parents apparently have a Church thing on Saturday afternoon that's non-negotiable, so they're out on the Chicago-Ft Wayne leg. So we need someone to help out there. After that, Kevin is going to meet whoever in Ft Wayne and get Ares to Megan's house in Dayton, where he'll stay the night. It's about an 18 hour drive total, so safety dictates we should do this over 2 days. If we can get a decently early start out of Dayton on Sunday morning, we should have no problem getting Ares to Kendall in Wheeling no later than noon, then she can get back to Baltimore at a reasonable hour.
Keep bugging people along the route and let's get this plan executed!
If anyone does get a volunteer, have them email me at meredith@wx5ab.net. Since not everyone may be on the forum, as we get things filled out I'm going to transfer the late stage planning over to email to make sure everyone is in the loop. Thanks all! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Meredith knows this already, but I have shared her status on my FB. Most everyone that I know in my life is in the Quad Cities area (IL/IA boarder). Only a few of them are husky people, so there's no telling if anyone will step up.
Have you guys contacted these rescues?
https://www.facebook.com/FreeSpiritSiberianRescue https://www.facebook.com/adoptahusky https://www.facebook.com/RavensHuskyHavenAndRescue?ref=profile
They're all in IL. They might have some fosters/volunteers along the path as well. |

I have to go teach now, but I'll update when I have more information. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
