Here's a history of their logos and why I believe this is a much needed improvement. Just sharing this as I love logos, and love huskies. I am not a fan of UCONN, but thought some of you might enjoy the new graphic.

That's awesome! Really nice looking logo and it definitely looks like a sibe! They must have had one in the room when they designed it. Nothing like a gun toting, half man, half fuzzy mickey mouse to get team spirit happening.

you do know they use a malamute correct? if you look at their actual (live) mascot (not the costume) its a Mal and they have chosen a mal for a while now if im not mistaken.They even have a video thats a "meet the mascot" and they say " it's a malamute" . But hey at least the mascots not looking like a mal anymore lol. NOthing against Malamutes- but if your mascot is a husky then have a husky

I like the newest logo. That's weird, I think UW's Husky is also a Malamute.

UW Huskies use a mal too. It's a bit frustrating. He's a huge sweetheart though. The first two logos are awesome lol.

The UConn logo reminds me of this; Winnipeg Jets in the NHL

Correction - I was thinking of University of Washington. They are the ones who are the Huskies but use a Malamute as their live mascot. I have no idea if the UCONN mascot is a husky or mal. whoops. still kind of strange that UW uses a mal... oh well

uconn's tradition is to have a white husky as their mascot. Although from some of the pix over the years, it looks like it may have been a mal at some point. The current one looks decidedly husky. He has a full time trainer/handler, I want THAT job!

So funny, after he does the high 5 for the reporter, he looks to the student for his treat, then when he doesn't get it, he looks back at her, and back to the kid. Then his left ear goes back, like, 'enough of you guys'

Ha, yep! Noticed that too.

You can kinda tell the handler is avoiding the breed issue too, he says he "comes from a litter here in washington" and that's as close as he gets.

According to our sports website.."The UW uses the Husky breed, the Alaskan Malamute, because it is the largest and strongest of all Husky breeds."

Cool thread, I forgot that UConn has huskies as their mascot too. So does Northeastern, as I found when doing a research paper last year. Theirs is kind of a neat story.

Their logo isn't nearly as nice or accurate as the new UConn logo. In fact, I think Northeastern's looks possessed.
