So I got a new camera Saturday and was going to meet up with Jessica on Sunday at a dog show in NJ and take Mechta for socializing. Figured a dog show would be the perfect way to break in a new camera. Came home with 930 shots. I've only edited and started messing with a handful of them. Figured I'd post them for others to see who aren't friends with me on facebook.

I don't know many (read: any) of these dogs but the few I do or have been told to me I will share their names.

We'll start off with one of Mechta! She was not entered but my friend Jessica took this really cute picture of her :3

This is a head shot of Snoebear's Noir de Blanc "Lola". A lovely, lovely girl. The woman who owns her I just met that day and she was very awesome.

Gray/white is the most common color you'll see in show ring followed by red/white and then black/white

Interesting. Any particular reason(s) why??

Wow, you take some really great pictures. Have you thought of going professional? If someone had a great movement pic of my dog in the ring I would totally buy it.

LOL - we do that too, but outside of the ring. That's the best part...all the happy smiling Siberians.

It's basically what's known as a fad. Every breed goes through them at different times. The black and whites used to dominate the ring back in the 80s and 90s and now it's the grays. They're very pretty to look at it and since they do a lot of the winning that's what people breed for because it's popular to all breed judges that don't know that there are colors accepted that are outside of the gray/black/red and whites.

However, there are agouti's and darker solid colors (non dilutes) that are getting out and being shown. Under a breed judge they do extremely well - but most shows are done under all breed judges so you have to be particular about who you show to when you have a dog of color or that is different from what is normally seen in the show ring.

I've seen a few Pies as well, but only a few. I like reds personally, they are my faves.

There was an all white at the open I went to the weekend prior. No Pies out this way that I know of at least.

No, no you don't. They're like the Pies. Hardly any out there. There's two all whites here in PA. One is a Trillium bitch.

That's what I thought. I didn't think there would be any corresponding technical or structural features with coat color.

There's definitely a "look" to each color, that's for sure. I notice with greys there are the darker, more charcoal greys and then the lighter ones. We see a lot of the darker ones around Seattle.

The reds are growing on me more and more and if I were gonna buy our second Husky tomorrow, red would be it.

I don't care for most reds. It has be an incredibly deep/rich red for it to get my attention. For the most part I do not enjoy them. (and here I am with a red dog).

I like the lighter, more sandy reds best

You enjoy them! I hope you're able to get one one day . I will stay far away from them .

I would one day like to get a pet quality gray/silver for my mother. She really likes them. I think for showing/education purposes I'm going to try and stick to the more unique colors (agouti, non-dilutes, dark faces, piebald if ever I find a nice one and a white - but it would have to be an exceptional white for me to want it)

I Fizzy, seriously. Ziva has a great name. They're all pretty dogs apart from the poodles who remind me of a dish mop hehe

I'm terrible with taking pictures! I do it with every camera that goes in my hands. I just don't stop taking them! I'm just glad some of them came out really nice. I'm hoping to get a telephoto lens sometime because having to enlarge the dogs make them fuzzy =/
