I just have a quick question. not to long ago probably around 2-3 months, I believe that my husky shed'ed her "winter coat" I literally filled bags with her hair. now im noticing that she is yet again shedding an incredible amount of hair. I know that they shed a lot, what my concern is; is that there could be a health problem.

could the shedding be signs of a heal problem?

Jack blew his coat in like feb and is blowing again. Unless your seeing other signs in behavior or skin making you think its a health thing its normal

Danzig is blowing his coat right now too. It actually seems a little worse than it was at the beginning of the year. I think you're fine unless, like Jenn said, you're noticing other issues as well.

My boy blew his coat earlier this year already and the shedding picked up again about 2 weeks ago and is still going strong.

My Qannik is 17 months old and has never blown his coat. Is that normal or are we just lucky husky owners?

I'm going to guess since he was just a puppy last spring, he may not have shed his coat? Depending on where you live and the climate, he may be just around the corner of blowing out his undercoat! Here we had a long winter and snow on the ground till mid april, so he just started blowing his coat recently. Last year it was earlier given the milder winter we had.

okay, first off thank you all very much for the replies! secondly, I've been keeping an eye on my girl since this post, and I've noticed dandruff like stuff coming out along with her undercoat, is that normal? it just looks like dandruff or dry flakey skin Sad

Since moving south to a warmer, humid climate dandruff has been an ongoing issue with my sibe. Up in the Pacific northwest it was never a problem.

Ha! I'm from Pomona myself...small world. Meeka has started to blow her coat.

Weird thing is my friends Husky looks like a sheep when he is blowing, Meeka on the other hand I wouldn't of known she was shedding until I groomed her today (had been slacking off the last week on grooming, usually groom her for a bit every 2 days).

Kato finally blew the last of his coat. Now he looks all skinny. It was kinda fun pulling the tuffs of fur from him, but i'm glad it's finally over!! Smile

My Captain is shedding and I feel like others it is coming off by the handful. It is a certain time of the year that they shed. I read somewhere where it said twice a year.
