Hi everyone!

I hope this is the right category for this.

To give you some background, Saturday night (its now monday) we took little Aria to the park. She was there with her buddy for about 5 hours total on and off. Sunday, we had a nice relaxing day at the house and now Monday morning she has an very gurgly tummy. Last night she threw up a pile of food, all whole kibbles, must have ate a little fast. But now this morning, she has diarrhea that is a little mucus. We can tell she needs to go #2 but is having difficulties. Whenever she squats to do the deed just a tiny bit comes out and she sniffs for another spot to go. She isn't acting lethargic, no blood, is drinking lots. So i think its something she ate but i am just reaching out to see if anyone has advice to make my little girl feel better sooner. She is 5 months.

Ive given her some rice boiled in chicken stock but she doesn't like it. I finally put a little nonfat yogurt in it so she would at least eat it and she ate a tiny bit but i didn't want to over due the yogurt.

Kimberly...keep an eye on this, if her poop turns into all liquid, and can not keep food down she may have a blockage. She could also have worms, but you didn't notice before, a parasite like giardia, so many things....ugh, it may be a good time to take her to the vet and rule out worms or parasites, and the vet should feel her tummy to feel any evidence of a blockage. Last piece of advice always have on hand pure can pumpkin (not the pie filling), mix in with the boiled chicken and rice, a tablespoon or two. Pumpkin is a laxative and it also will firm up stools, for most dogs, so it is a handy food item to keep in stock. You can give a tablespoon without anything at all, I would keep it to about 3 tablespoons total for the day.

Ill definitely go get some pumpkin for her. The vet gave her the anti-worm pill (forgetting its actual name) about a month ago. Her stool is partially solid but def not normal. I will get to cooking the pumpkin, chicken and rice and hopefully she feels better. If not she will def go to the vet tomorrow. Her tummy has stopped gurgling so fingers crossed! Thank you so much again!! Smile

Try adding the pumpkin cold, it will cool off the chicken and rice, as odd as it sounds I never cook the pumpkin, and she can lick it off a spoon by itself as well. Since she didn't like the chicken and rice mash adding the pumpkin, and the yogurt too may make her happily eat it.

Again no problem, my husky Miya was a difficult pup in training and with food, and low and behold my gsd puppy Sofie seems to be the same, haha, Sofie is almost 8 months, and at 5.5 months old had a similar issue. I think she drank stale water, so a vet visit was a must, especially when it was all liquid poo, ugh, so yea puppies gotta love them for their cuteness.....
