| Well Vegeta was neutered on Thursday. The person said the surgery went well and there were no complications, so I was relieved. Even with minor things like this I still freak....if something can go wrong they normally will with me. Anyways, since he's been home he's been whimpering from time to time. I expect this since, well he got his balls chopped off so can you blame him? I wasn't given any pain meds for him so he's been a trooper and toughing it out. I've just read everywhere that most dogs don't enjoy sitting after neutering. Vegeta is the opposite. He refuses to move from laying down or if he's sitting. As soon as he starts walking he immediately starts running and about 5-7 steps later he's reaching back and biting at his crotch hind legs and sits 3940594 times in the 2 minutes we're outside to go potty. Is this normal? Sorry if this is silly, I'm just nervous since none of my previous dogs were ever neutered/spayed. |

| What's the incision look like? Just by his behavior alone, I would call your vet for some pain meds. He definitely sounds overly uncomfortable. |

| The incision itself doesn't look so bad. They did it on the sack itself, every other picture I've seen on here they did it above the sack itself so I found this weird? He has what looks like a bruise just above it that's fairly red. I'm leaning strongly towards taking him into my vet just to have him checked up on to make sure everything is going ok. The red area in the middle is the bruise I was referring to. The incision is the dark brown area to the right which is on the sack like I mentioned. The other dark scabby looking area is where they tattooed him. |

| that doesn't look to bad. I use Boswellia as a natural anti inflammatory - you can get it at health stores and is much better on the body than conventional meds. |

| I'd talk to the vet too, maybe get some pain meds. I have always insisted on take home pain meds post op. I have never used them all but I want them on hand just in case.
The way he's acting doesn't sound normal and would have me back at the vet. _________________ |

| The vet isn't open until Monday so I'm going to take him in then. He's stopped whimpering except his usual "I need to pee" whimper, which surprisingly enough is a certain kind of whimper from him that I finally picked up on. I'm sure he's in pain when he walks, but that's to be expected. Could it possibly be irration from the buzz they gave him? The picture doesn't show it very well but they shaved about 3/4 down his thigh (I immediately thought it was a bit excessive the first time I saw it), could that be influencing it? Either way I'm taking him in on Monday just to be on the safe side. |

| We shave that much just in case the legs fold over during transportation from the treatment table to the surgery room. It maintains a field of sterility. It's doubtful that is the cause for his behavior. That would be more itch, what you're describing seems more painful. |

| Thank you for everyone that responded! Vegeta was back to normal today without any indication that he was in pain...aka bouncing off the walls, walking everywhere I went, no whimpering. So I ended up not taking him in today, however I plan on taking him in on Thursday/Friday for a post op evaluation just to be extra sure. Now to deal with the craziness. |
