Hmmm, I'm not sure. I know she was being extremely picky about where she was going and the situation she would put her in. What did you say in your message? Do you have kids? She was only willing to adopt out fairly locally so that she could keep tabs on her.

If I remember correctly, all I said was I saw CeCe on petfinder.com and I was interested in finding out more. I currently have a husky and am wanting to get a playmate for him. Then I left my name and number for them to call me. If it was because she's not good with other dogs, I would have appreciated the phone call back telling me that and really why wouldn't they want to get more information from me to see if any of their other dogs would have been a good match? I know you probably don't have an answer to that, I just was baffled that they didn't even make an effort to try.

Well definitely doesn't sound like you said anything that would have turned her off. I know she's good with other dogs because she told me that CeCe had snuck in and introduced herself to the rest of her own pack and they got along famously. I will send an email out to her and see if I can find an answer for you.

I didn't think to look at PetFinder until now but I see that CeCe is no longer listed, I hope that just means good things! But also worries me because she told me she would let me know if she got adopted!

Ok email sent off, sometimes she takes a few days because she works a job on top of working her rescue, but I know she'll get back to me when she can.

Heard back from Linda at Homes for Huskies and indeed the issue with placement to you was the distance. She gave Peoria Animal Control your number because Peoria is in your backyard per say and had contacted her regarding taking the huskies they had and she gave them your numer as someone who might be interested in their dogs. She said its absolutely impossible to return every phone call she gets as the calls are in the thousands. She had alot of people calling from hours away and out of state for CeCe and her thought on that is that they need to look locally and save the dogs in their area. On top of that if she adopts a dog out too far away she worries that if it doesn't work out her dog could end up in a shelter or given away rather than being returned to her, I totally agree with her on those points. CeCe was adopted by a young couple November 20th and so far so good, they've had a couple hurdles but everything seems to be going well, fingers crossed here. On another note, are you in Peoria? I drove 4 hours and got 2 of my malamutes from Linda Dillon in Peoria, worth every minute of the trip! I love my dogs SOOO much!

Thanks for the updates, Autumn! Are you going to share anymore pictures of your fur kids? If I remember correctly, they are just stunning! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.

Thanks for finding out the information. I really appreciate it. I don't live in Peoria, I am really close to Bloomington. Peoria is about a half hour in the opposit direction. So, 2 hours is considered too far away? Just curious becuase I know I will want to adopt again in about 5 years so this would be good to know. The bad thing is...I don't think there are resuces any closer.

Depends on the rescue. Around here, the rule of thumb is more than 100 miles away. Some places are within an hour. It really depends on the rescue organization. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |
