| So it's come to my attention that my Balon is shy! I noticed it at the Husky get together that we attended, and have begun to notice it when people he doesn't know well come over. He will back off from them and then finally warms up to them. I have been taking him to the local dog park by himself to try to get him over this some. Any suggestions that I can do to help him. Honestly I never really noticed it until the Husky meet, he wouldn't go up to people, or the other dogs. At home he plays and romps with my other two, but like I said can be reserved with strangers. He does warm up, but it takes a good half hour or so. |

| Don't coddle him if he stays too close to you. Try taking a few steps away, and we'll have to do a few smaller play dates to get him used to meeting new people. Have you tried taking him to dog friendly public places like Home Depot or outdoor restaurants? _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Koda does the exact opposite.. Any attention he gets from anyone, on a walk, store, whatever he goes straight to the ground and rolls for a belly rub!! Lol it kind of sucks sometimes cause then he doesnt want to get up when i wanna get back to the walk then people just pet him forever.. Lol haha try having strangers come to ur house or when your on a walk. Hand someone who he is shy towards a treat and try that... Goodluck! |

| I have been walking away from him when he stays too close to me, It's funny because I always thought him to be so friendly and affectionate, but that's with us lol.
You saw him Meredith at the dog park, he would barely leave my side poor guy! He has gotten a little better with me taking him to the dog park more, he actually played with a bulldog and pitbull. No I have not taken him to Home Depot, not sure they would allow him in around here? But I am going to start taking him to the local shopping centers. Just walk him around and let people talk to him and such. I can also take him to the two local dog stores as well. We do have some outdoor cafes. He loves going places, just gets shy when people approach. I hope I can get him to be better. God Loki and Ruby are all over anyone lol. |

| Call ahead to your Home Depot, all the ones I've ever been to have been dog friendly. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
