| I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on needing more than one dog when owning a husky. I take her to a daycare where she gets plenty of socialization but I was thinking of eventually getting another husky as a companion for her when she is around 2 or 3. Would that help with the hyperactivity or would I just be biting off more than I can chew by having 2 sibes at one time? |

| when i had only one husky he was a lil crazy ahaha after i got the second they both drained their own energy. they still need their daily walks and etc. and huskies like to play rough and a lot of different breeds dont like that . |

| So you thinking waiting until she is 2 or 3 would be ok? When she is that age, I'm hoping to be in a house with a yard and I'll be out of school with a paying job. |

| I think you should consider adding a second dog into you're home when you're first dog is fully trained. There's nothing more stressful than having two untrained dogs at once. If you're consistent with training, then right around 8 months to a year should be fine if that's what you decide to do. Just keep in mind that everything doubles from there on out, so be prepared for that! |

| I think the 2-3 age mark is perfect. I'm a little wierd with how I do things age wise (Ares kind of threw a wrench in that but oh well). I want my dogs to be spaced out at least by a year (preferably two). Maturity comes with age, so if I'm going to add another into my pack, I want my existing pack to be at the training level I want and at a good time in their own development for a new family member. I want to give my dog (first it was Kennedy) time to shine. Meaning I want to give that dog time for our bond to set in and for her to grow into her own personality. Kennedy will be turning three (realistically she will be almost four, but I call her Gotcha Day her bday) while Sheba will be around a year and a half. Prefect age gap for me. Another thing nobody thinks about is eventually our pets will pass away. I for one don't want two dogs to pass at the same time. A little cinical, I know, but still.
I would definitely give it at least a year to be sure you can handle adding another husky. |

| I had Tia for about three years before I got Loki (this past October). The first few weeks were really hard on me, especially since it had been just Tia and I for so long. I also felt like I wouldn't ever love Loki as much since Tia was my first.
All I can say is that looking back now I can't believe I didn't get a second one sooner. I really believe that all three of us are happier.
As long as your first one is well-behaved then adding a second one should be a great experience. |

| We waited until Kairi was about a year old before we started looking for a companion for her. She is a very hyperactive, constant attention diva so we felt she needed a playmate and 2 huskies are better than one . We didn't think we had the time for a puppy again though so we chose to adopt a rescue. The first week or so while they were getting used to each other was a little rough but now they play like sisters. |

| When I looked into getting a second my first was at the training level I wanted him to be at. Even though he was only 6 months old when I brought Yuki home, Cloud was always the perfect gentleman and never even acted like a puppy. Then again he's an eskie so maybe easier to train than a stubborn sibe lol. I'd say 2-3 would be fine |

| Thank you so much for all the info. I think I will get another one once Mya is fully trained and I'm able to handle both of them completely. |

| That's how old Mya is and I'm already thinking about it but I'm going to wait until she is older and I can handle 2 instead of just 1. |
