Is it safe to feed fruit to our huskies? If so, what kind?

Definitely. I feed Kavik all kinds of fruit and he loves them. You can give bananas, apples, blueberries, cantaloupe, pears...almost any fruit, really. The only things to watch out for are grapes and raisins. They are toxic to dogs as are a lot of fruit seeds and pits, so only give sliced fruit.

I feed fruit and veggies to my two as well. Recently, my pet insurance company sent out this list:
http://trupanion.com/pet-health/fruits-and-veggies-for-pets

If you do a search on line, you'll be able to find much more involved lists.

I used to give Meeka a avocado as a treat from time to time mainly because my neighbor’s kids who are my age (27) were being idiots throwing avocados to my backyard. If I seen my dogs with an avocado I would simply peel it, took out the seed and let them go crazy for it. Meeka absolutely loves them.

Another one is baby carrots slices…I used them when I run out of "meaty treats" while training.

Simple google search will turn up the ones not to feed, most have been mentioned here. Think we have a thread somewhere on here to.

I can't get a way with prepping my foods and not sharing! Fresh and raw is the way to go with foods, I don't share "human" food, so leftovers and such that have been cooked in sauce or seasoned aka, turned into a meal for me to eat.

I feed mine all kinds. I have found that the tomato and the kiwi are two that seem to be "condition" or how "ripe" dependant. Bourbon will not eat a kiwi when it is too tart the others will eveytime!!!
Bourbon will play, squeeze , squish, spilt out and then eat cherry tomatos that are wrinkling and getting old, Beka plays with them always but eats them everntually and Baylin eats them in any condition. Guess Bourbon likes them firm. They all LOVE bananna apple mango. I give them raw foods as a topper or when i am prepping for dinner I hold some aside for snack or a treat in the bowl. I do not feed from the plate with sauces etc.
I believe variety is the spice of life so I change what I top on the food so they are excited to eat!

Avocados can actually be bad for dogs. They contain something called Persin that can cause vomiting and diarrhea even when the seed is removed, so probably not worth the risk. If you do a search online you can find more info on that.

Some other ones to avoid feeding dogs are garlic, onion, and chives. In large enough quantities these can cause gastrointestinal problems and also cause red blood cell damage.

The persin issue has been debated on the net for a while, and all I can really say is use at your own risk. In small amounts I believe it's fine as long as the seed and the avocado is peeled.

There is a dog food called Avoderm or something along those lines and its made from avocados.

Harry loves strawberries and bananas and carrots. But hes pretty much a hound dog crossed with a garbage disposal and eats anything. He's left lettuce alone but not much else. Havent thrown any type of melons at him though so i might make a few watermelon ice cubes for him in the summer.
