Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Ok so I noticed a lot of the time my puppy breaths very heavily an rapid in her sleep, it worries me a bit as I do not know if this is normal at all..her vet also did fear she may have a slight respitory infection an gave her some meds Ive been giving her for the last couple of days.. sometimes she even wakes up with her tongue out of her mouth just hanging there an panting even when its not hot in the house, any advice or input would be helpful..I hope I'm only paranoid but it was be nice to be relieved..here is a vid of her sleeping please let it play a bit so that u can concentrate on her breathing, it looks a little slower on video but it seems a bit faster then it really shows in the vid.. here it is, tell me what you think

Breathing Fast
You may find that your puppy breathes very fast especially when at rest or sleeping. This is normal. As she gets older, her breathing will come down to a slower, more normal pace.

Very many other sites say pretty much the same thing. That it is normal. Smile

Hope that helps put you at ease! Very Happy

Aurora does the same, and I was worried at first also. I asked around and found that it is normal, and now I'm used to it. She pants when she wakes up too.

I remember thinking the same about Link. I was worried he had a respiratory issue as well. A puppy's heart beats fast and they breathe heavy. They tend to pant a lot too. Link also pants when he has to poop.

None of this means there's nothing wrong with your puppy but it is perfectly possible it's normal and she's fine.

Good luck.

Very normal. My two still do that sometimes.

If it would ease your mind you could always make a quick vet visit to have them use a stethoscope and check out your pup. I had Tia in not too long ago and asked about the rapid breathing while I was there. She took a second to listen to Tia's heartbeat and said "no problems at all--she's an athlete."
