| I looked around a bit and I don't think I've seen this posted. So what are male vs Female traits? From what I've read males are more dominant, females are more laid back. Both have their challenges with training. But I'd appreciate any information that you guys could give me on male and female traits. |

| Lets see im not sure i can be much help but we adopted ours a month apart and they are far apart in age. Sierra our girl came with some issues and im not sure if it is older age as she is 7 but she is so much more calmer then our boy and she is also much more of a lover with me than with my husband. if you are thinking of getting 2 some day i have been told 2 females do not work out as well as a male and female or a male and male so that could be a thought. Our boy Jack is 2ish and he is full of energy and is hard to snuggle with he "tolerates" it for a few min and then is over it, he also is much more of a talker then our girl and i love that to a point. in the beginning both were fighting to be the dominant one but i think our boy has won the title but they both know we dominant both of them. on daily walks Jack has to pee on all most everything and our girl hardly goes so you will have more of a marking issue with a male regardless if it is fixed or not. i think i would go for another female when the time comes even if they can be bitchy at times but hey what women is not bitchy at times?
Welcome to our group and im happy you are asking all these questions now and will be ready when you are, but we are talking huskies and you can never be fully prepared to be a parent to one or even more! it is a fun journey. _________________ |

| I think it's hard to tell because every dog is different. Hailey definitely submits more to us, but she gives Koda a run for his money! I really hesitate to say that boys are more dominant than girls. I really believe that's just an individual dog thing and not a male/female thing. However, oddly enough, our two sound exactly like Jenn's two in terms of traits: Hailey is more cuddly, Koda stands it for a moment and then leaves. Koda has more energy and definitely marks, but Hailey will also follow him around and not let him have his way If you're getting a puppy, this is a great question to ask your breeder If you're adopting, I would go through a rescue and have them match one of their dogs to your personality. What I will say echoes Jenn's sentiments: I'm very glad we went with a male/female mix and that we did get two. As much as I say to people they should be comfortable with one before they get the other-- which I still think is true-- just be prepared to want two! If you love this breed, they are addictive! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| I plan on one in about a years time (I hope if I can find the right rental) and then another when we buy our own property. I'm a knowledge hoard, I have always done this with any pet I have. I think one of the things with me is that I have an abundance of patience and I love dog walking! When I lived with my aunt when I was a kid we had a collie and we would go on 3 hour walks!

| That's awesome Do you plan on a puppy or a rescue? If a puppy, you'll have to start slow, but they'll have a ball trying to keep up with you! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| A puppy, I have a cat so I'll be on my toes constantly. I have lots of advice from those who have cats and they said that it's best I get a puppy as I can socialise them and it will reduce the risks, although I know it will not minimise them I will be looking into other things before I do anything as I have to keep her safe of course. This is part of the reason why I am waiting so long as I want to be as informed as possible. |

| We have three 2 females and a male. One of the females, Isis, is the most dominant, but some of that is because Nanuk, the male, lets her get away with that. He will take stuff from Isis that he will not tolerate from Mika. We have more issues between Nanuk & Mika, our latest female, than between the two girls. I tend to agree with Tori, that I feel it is more personality than sex of the dog. Nanuk is the lover in our group. He sleeps on the bed with us, and loves to cuddle and get his pettings. Isis takes it for a few, then is off & running. Mika likes loving, but only on her terms! I also would recommend more than one. After the 1st is settled, you can look into the 2nd! But as for if I'd get a male or female because of traits? I would go wth the boy, every time! That's just me, tho.

| I would definitely like more than 1 but I'll most likely have to wait for a second. Most landlords don't like you having more than 2 canine/feline pets. |

| You just have to find the right ones We've had two landlords that haven't had a problem. My advice to you is to find one that allows one-- keep him for a while, show him what good owners you are, and then ask for an addendum allowing a second. That's what we did with our last place and it worked quite well We didn't end up finding Hailey until after we moved... but when we were here, the landlord took one look at Koda and his behavior when he was around her and I asked and she was like "If it's anything like him, have as many as you want!" Most landlords understand that it's not the dog, it's the owners. You just need to prove yourself as a competent owner first Where are you located? _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| I'm in the UK, so landlords are a bit different here. There are laws on certain apartments that you can't keep pets by law. So I've always lived in houses. The landlord here doesn't like dogs, I've asked before but we're moving next year so I'm hoping to find somewhere that will allow me to get one and keep my cat. I'm planning on training classes as this will be the first puppy I will need to train. I've grew up with collies so I'm used to long walks. Still lots of time to research though I hope. I've already started buying puppy things. It's just a matter of time, if it's 1 year or 10 I will be getting a dog,. 1am here so night I'll be back tomorrow. |
