| I tried searching for this - but I couldn't find an answer! I kept finding food agression with humans.
Willow is perfect with food and treats, she lets me take them from her, hand feed her, pet her, everything when she eats. She's very good with gently taking treats from me.
The other day, a friend of ours brought over his full grown lab. He received a treat and Willow went CRAZY on the lab. I sense it is jealousy but she is taking it out on him. We weren't sure what to think of it exactly.
Just a minute ago, the lab was fed and she didn't get any - she went BALLISTIC! trying to bite his neck and going nuts! I fed her, and she was fine.
How do I fix this?! |

| Sheba has this problem as well. This is what I have been doing and what I have read..it may or may not work for you but at least it will be a starting point . First I took away ALL toys and treats. I would sit down with Kennedy and Sheba and hand them each a toy. Kennedy first then Sheba next. If Sheba lunged for Kennedy's toy or Kennedy, the toy and Sheba got removed. After a few minutes, I brought Sheba back out. Repeated the process. If she lunged, she was removed. If not, she got a "jack pot" treat. String cheese to be exact. Then I graduated them to being able to play with each others toys and Sheba not guarding them away from Kennedy. If she guarded, time out. Repeat step 1-2. We then built it up to where I took a toy from Sheba and GAVE the toy to Kennedy. Sheba was then without a toy! If she was good, even bigger jack pot treat. So on and so forth. Treats however have been a TOTALLY different battle. I have done this thing where Kennedy gets a treat first, but Sheba gets an even BETTER treat and knows it. If she snaps at Kennedy or towards the treat, she gets removed and we start all over. I think I read that the overly dominant dog should get the treat first, but I tried it that way and it really didn't do anything. Now, the repeating thing here is that if Sheba did wrong, she was removed. Removing them WORKS. Maybe you can have your friend come over for training sessions and do trading games between the two of them. Willow reacts badly, she's removed. Now this may not work for you, but this is really all the advice I have LOL! |

| No problem! I hope it helps you out! I still have problems with Sheba, I won't lie. It is not a quick fix, but it will be easier since she is younger (hopefully).
One of the most important things to do is REMAIN CALM! if you start to get stressed or tense, waiting for Willow to bite (or whatever) that will only escalate the problem.
GOOD LUCK! |

GOOD LUCK! oh yes - no matter the situation, i always try to remain calm, telling my boyfriend the same is a bit of a problem LOL!! he's very high-strung and gets antsy and anxious worse than me! LOL!!! he's just mostly worried because he gets his lab puppy in about a month and we don't know how Willow will react to her getting treats, etc. |
