Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| In our house there are certain words we don't say unless we plan on following through. Words like cookie, walk, dog park , dog beach etc. So we've taken to spelling out the words if we are talking about them but don't plan on going.
Well Dakota apparently knows how to read lol. I will say to my husband do we need to buy more D o g c o o k i e s and Dakota will perk up , walk over, and sit ... he's waiting on a cookie, we didn't say cookie we spelt it but he knows what we spelt.
Same thing if i'm asking if anyone feels like coming to the dog park with us, I spell dog park and dakota runs over and does his berserk we're going to the dog park dance. If you say dog park or walk you'd better be prepared to take him to the park or walk him or he will not leave you alone lol which is why we spell but now we can't even spell it haha.
So what words are taboo in your house and what words can your dog "read?"

| We can't say Walk, Park, Ride or Ice cream in our house without wooing and whining and pouting. We have just recently started to spell them out and so far he doesn't understand. |

| Our house has had a no "RIDE" rule and you do not touch the leashes. But they have not figured out how to read for those. But they do not quit if those items are noticed. The whining starts when you mention walk, outside, grandma, or treat. But they tend to not spaz too bad. They love grandma.
We had a cat Shadie (cats over the years) and for my aussie all you had to do was say the cats name or even nicknames and she would go hunt her down. I believe she knew when we were discussing the cat even when we used the her degorgitory (sp) nicknames black rat and sh!tty. Yes my husband and that cat had a wierd love hate love relationship.
