| hi all,
I have searched through the search bar to make sure there weren't any topics on this already. I have seen some people talk about the ProSelect Empire Crate, but haven't seen reviews from anyone on here. They have reviews on their sites, but I would much rather hear from husky owners. My questions in regards to this crate: 1) I know as a puppy you need to buy a crate with dividers so that it is small for them. However, with this crate having the door on the side of the crate, is it possible to make your own dividers, or have the wire dividers fit? 2) Are these bars too far a part for a puppy? Would they get their head stuck between them?

Secondly has anyone every used K9 Kennels before? http://www.k9kennelstore.com/Complete-Kennels.html
They are very pricey but after researching it, I feel it is the only kennel that would give me a little peace of mind. However, I am not sure, if I should get the expanded metal, or welded metal version of the kennel. Either way, I will have a top on it so my dog won't climb out, but was curious as to which is better?
Thanks for the help! |

| You can get creative and make your own divider. Seattlesibe uses a milk crate in the back of his puppy's crate to make it smaller and that seems to work.
The ProSelect Empire Pet Crate seems like it would be safe for a puppy. IMO the security of it is a bit overkill. It also isn't very den-like, which might make crate training more difficult. You can get two (one puppy sized, one adult sized) Vari Kennels for less money. |

| A lot of people have the wire kennels, but I went with a vari kennel and that worked well for us. We covered it with a blanket and that's where she stashes all her good toys now lol.
I love the looks of that kennel, can't wait to see what others say about it! |

| I looked at the ProSelect Empire Color Cage for Pets when I got my puppy but decided to keep him in a room(the bathroom) instead of a crate. When I finally figured out how bad of an idea that was I needed to get a crate fast, bought a top paw brand one from petsmart and it's worked like a charm, but then again Storm has never tried to bust out of it so I guess mileage varies. |

| I got one for my puppy at pets mart. Very den like. I did get a big one so she could grow into it. However, I never put a egg crate or anything in it to make it smaller and she loves the room. Has never tried busting out of it or anything. One time though I didnt lock it all the way by mistake. She clawed at it (yes like a cat lol) and it opened. She had the "OMG, what do i do now?" look on her face. It was pretty cute and priceless. |

| On Amazon a person posted a very negative review of the ProSelect Crate. The round vertical bars look solid. They are hollow thinwall tubing. Her dog crushed some flat, bent others, and got their head wedged between the bent bars. She returned home and found the dog stuck and choking. Dog was eventually OK.
Most people would think the bars are solid. Once home, they may not think a dog capable of crushing the tubing.
If you have a strong chewer, you may want to factor this into your decisions. I would consider most of my Sibes to be strong, determined chewers.
Wire crates. We got a wire crate expecting another dog. My wife took on a 14 month old male that was not crate trained. He tore loose two of the spot-welded wires and bent in the pointy ends. He was not hurt. The crate was toast.
I know bad things can happen with any enclosure. Perhaps the best way to avoid those incidents is to crate train the dog before you need it. |

| Thanks for the advice everyone! It is very much appreciated. My sibe will be coming home sooner than expected, so I will only be able to spend three or 4 days crate training her. Had the original plan of having all summer, but litter came early. I will keep looking into it, I just can't have her get out of the crate while I am at work. My roommate will be furious if things get ruined because of her |

| This should do it. Fully welded and powder coated aluminum diamond plate. There are many varieties like this. http://www.activedogs.com/product.php?id=1862 |

| Haha holy crap!! Looks like something from Pit Bulls and Parolees. On that episode where a prison had a dog at their facility because it protected it's owner, by biting someone, and it ended being the nicest dog ever. Looks like a cozy den, but also prison just like the pro select. I am thinking I will wait it out and see how she is as a puppy with those wire ones. I hate the thought of my best friend looking like she is in prison. So torn. But thanks Doug! |

| I use Midwest Icrate, I got the 42" size for my lab and my husky. I still crate all 3 dogs (I borrowed a smaller midwest crate to use for Loki until he gets bigger, my intention is to let the lab be loose as she will be 2 soon and then Loki can use her crate). So far haven't had anyone escape it. I know some secure with cable ties. it all depends on how bad the dog wants out, my suggestion exercise! A tired dog is usually a good dog lol. |
